Source: The New York Times

Charlotte R. Bloomberg, the mother of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and a constant source of encouragement and wisdom for him, died on Sunday at her home in Medford, Mass., according to a statement from Mr. Bloomberg’s office. She was 102 years old.

Her health had been deteriorating for several months.

“Today, my sister, Marjorie, and I lost our mother, Charlotte, after an extraordinary 102 years of life,” the statement said. “As the center of our family, our mother’s unimpeachable integrity, fierce independence, and constant love were gifts that profoundly shaped our lives and the lives of so many who knew her.”

Mrs. Bloomberg was an enduring and prominent presence in her son’s life. The mayor called his mother nearly every day, and had been visiting her more at her Medford home in recent months.

1. I'm sure she was a fine human,
too bad the same can't be said about her son.

5. I honestly don't doubt that she was a decent, well-balanced human being...
Probably a very nice lady. Which is why she had trouble telling her baby that he was a moron.

6. Not sure why people here hate Bloomberg so much.
He is one of the saner people out there on social issues like gay marriage and the "Ground Zero Mosque." you can do way worse than Bloomberg. Way worse. Definitely has his flaws though.
