Pelosi declines to call for Weiner's resignation
Source: AP

WASHINGTON – Amid increasing calls for Rep. Anthony Weiner to resign, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi says the decision should be up to the congressman and his New York constituents.

The former speaker said in San Francisco that she believes the decision should be made by "the individual member" and the people in his district.

Weiner, a seven-term Democrat, has admitted sending sexually explicit photos and messages over the Internet to a half-dozen women over the past three years. Pelosi has asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate whether Weiner used any government resources.

Weiner told a newspaper Thursday he would not resign. At least nine House members and three senators said he should quit.

Steny Hoyer also 'declined.'

Good for them.

3. I will NOT excuse Weiner
If anything, he knew that even the slightest sin would get blown up by the GOP, even though they are full of people like Gingrich that you would never want your daughter or sister to marry. However, it is good to see us finally have some spine.

6. Some of us, with checkered pasts, are more tolerant of personal foibles
I'd rather have a Democratic representative that fucks up retail, than a Republican that fucks up wholesale.

I still believe he should resign and its not the sex because as I said on another thread regarding him I dont care if he was banging a three legged cross-dressing midget just dont lie for days about it claiming its false and you have been setup in front of multiple press conferences you assemble.

13. Frankly, I don't care that he lied
Not about personal stuff. Just like I didn't care that Clinton lied about Monica. That's really not what's important.

What I care about is getting fucked in my wallet. And that's where Republicans like to do it.

23. He lied about something that concerns him and his family,. not his job performance or the nation.
It is an embarrassing personal matter that would have hurt his pregnant and relatively new wife very deeply.

I can certainly understand why he tried to say he had been hacked. Anyone who claims not to be able to understand that is, IMO, a very "unusual" human being.

Did you call for Clinton's resignation and/or impeachment, too? He not only lied, but he lied under oath. And he actually engaged in a physical relationship.

16. True
and honestly, I do think that the worst democrat is better than the best GOP (with some leeway for dixiecrats like landrieu) however, I am not going to bury my head in the sand and pretend that weiner does not deserve the equivalent of a slapped face.

since it's been decades since their last real investigative efforts.

11. If that is true
That is an apple to the current orange. As of now, he, unlike Vitter, did not commit a crime, he may have been stupid, but not a criminal. If there is PROOF, and I mean real proof, not o keefe and brietbart level proof, then it is a new ballgame.

to have been flirting with him, too.

Called her office yesterday and asked her to please support Weiner. (no pun.) Weinergate began just as the release of the Clarence Thomas documents happened, and diverted all attention.

31. People in his district were polled. A majority does not want him to resign.
He has not been investigated yet, much less found guilty of any violation of House rules.

He's committed no crime, unlike Vitter, Spitzer, Clinton (perjury), Ensign and others.

He forced his attentions on no one and sexually harassed no one. These women were sending him provocative photos and messages, too.

He had physical contact with no one.

Unless and until the House Ethics Committee finds a violation, this is a matter for his wife and his constituents.
