CLEVELAND - Goodrich Corp. says it will close its aircraft landing-gear plant in Cleveland by the end of next year, eliminating about 400 jobs.

Goodrich announced the pending shutdown Wednesday. The Charlotte, N.C.-based company blames a lack of new work that could make the plant cost-efficient.

Current production will be moved to other plants.

The Cleveland operation makes landing-gear equipment for commercial and military aircraft.

4. This is uncalled for.
Considering the state of Cleveland's economy.

6. They'll just open a plant...
down in the south, where people don't mind getting underpaid for their work. I swear, Cleveland just can't catch a break.

7. The South has always lived a more
authoritarian style anyway. They are perfectly happy with their non-union plants. If we remember back to the pre civil war South it was much like the society we are becoming where there is a small middle class. Their society consisted mostly of the aristocrats, the poor and the slaves. The GOP is all for it.

5. Sorry folks.....but it's all we make anymore....
Airplane products, fighter jets, weapons, bombs, bullets, guns, all sorts of gas and explosive devices.

This is probably not directly related to manufacturing weapons and military death products, but so much of our economy IS. We are going to be losing a LOT of jobs if we ever get a handle on our military complex and put them all out of business.

Prepare for a second wave of lost manufacturing jobs in this country if we can ever reign in the military complex in the USA. It's all we make and export anymore.
