Saudi Arabia, UAE funded jihadi networks in Pakistan: Wikileaks cable

(Reuters) - Islamic charities from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates financed a network in U.S. ally Pakistan that recruited children as young as eight to wage holy war, a local newspaper reported on Sunday, citing Wikileaks.

A U.S. diplomatic cable published by WikiLeaks said financial support estimated at $100 million a year was making its way from those Gulf Arab states to a jihadist recruitment network in Pakistan's Punjab province, Dawn newspaper reported.

The November 2008 dispatch by Bryan Hunt, the then principal officer at the U.S. consulate in Lahore, was based on discussions with local government and non-governmental sources during trips to Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province.

It said those sources claimed that financial aid from Saudi and United Arab Emirates was coming from "missionary" and "Islamic charitable" organizations ostensibly with the direct support of those countries' governments.

Republican friends. Americas enemies.

If you look at every wars since the 80's. They have one connection. They were at one time friends of the Republican party.

Saddam, Bin Laden, The Saudis. (9/11) Even Ghadaffi became a friend of the republican party.

AMY GOODMAN: The long-term relationship between the Bush family and the Saudi Royal family that dates back over two decades. And the subject of a new book by Craig Unger, which is called "House of Bush, House of Saud: The Secret Relationship between the World's Two Most Powerful Dynasties."

In it, Craig Unger writes that in order to understand this relationship, one would have to journey back to the time to the birth of Al-Qaeda. One would have to study the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980's, the 1991 Gulf War, the Iraq War of 2003.

One would have to try to deduce what had happened within the corporate suites of the oil barons, of Dallas and Houston, the executive offices of Carlyle Group.

Finally, one would have to put all this information together to shape a continuum, a narrative in which the House of Bush and the House of Saud dominated the world stage together in one era after another.

Having done so, one would have to come to a singular, inescapable conclusion, namely that horrifying as it sounds, the secret relationship between these two great families helped to trigger the age of terror and give rise to see the tragedy of 9-11.

Powerful words, Craig Unger.

1. The House of Saud and the House of Bush created the War on Terror
as a long term strategy to steal oceans of money and to keep the Saudi Royal family in power. Cheers to Unger!

4. Terrorism is a cover for multinational corporations to steal as much
from the people of the ME as they can. The Saudis and booosh crime family are only a part of that. In the book The Shock Doctrine I actually got tired of reading how this had been done from one country to the next. The same exact pattern all across the world. There has not been a crisis since the 1950s that has not been used to steal the resources of some nation for the rich. In fact it is not just the ME that is feeling it now - in my opinion that is what is happening right here right now.

6. Don't forget the bin Ladin family itself...

second only to the House of Saud.

Also, the film "Charlie Wilson's War" documents how the US raised an unprecedented amount of money funding the mujahadeen in Afghanistan in order to covertly battle the Soviet Union. Other research suggests that Osama was one of the top lieutenants in this war, reporting to the CIA. After the success against the Soviets, the US withdrew funding and then the Taliban formed. As is often the case with conspiracies, Osama bin Ladin is painted as a lone rogue, forming Al Qaeda on his own without the assistance of others, when in fact his people had penetrated Pakistani intelligence forces early on.
