'I was destroyed by Murdoch's hackers,' says svengali
Source: Independent U.K.

Elle Macpherson's consultant was falsely accused of leaking to the press, and lost her job and reputation.

An indirect victim of an alleged phone-hacking broke cover yesterday to reveal how the scandal "ruined her life" after she was sacked by the celebrity who believed she was leaking personal details to the press.

Mary-Ellen Field was Elle Macpherson's financial svengali until she was dropped by the model. Unlike many of the celebrities bringing cases against News International who put themselves in the public eye, she is "a normal person", as she puts it, who has been fighting quietly for years to clear her name.

27. THe head of fox was the head of some part of Newscorp while
all this was going on...then he came over here to run FOX...i'd bet he brought the practice with him if it wasn't already here.

A lot of these stars are in the US a good part of the time so they were having their phones hacked while in America too, I'd bet.

9. it's encumbent upon Macpherson to now issue a public apology to Field
Edited on Sun May-22-11 07:27 AM by SemperEadem
and to reinstate her back into her old job. Fields being fired had nothing to do with macpherson's phone being hacked--which was in macpherson's possession when it was hacked. The way in which she's basically blown her off these past 5 years is bad enough--the fact that she hasn't made a public apology for firing her without proof--just a hunch--proves her waste of space.

13. For all we know it's because they are beautiful people who shun him
Murdock doesn't seem to be very popular with the stars and it may be because he owns the rags that make their lives a living hell. One example: Paparazzi chasing Princess Diana resulted in her death. Now how many world figures have been coming out and suing him?

14. McPherson blowing her off for five years was because she believed
Field had betrayed her contract. Anyone would do the same. But now that she knows the truth it does seem she should apologize for not believing her.

15. but she had no proof that Field betrayed her
it was just a hunch, and a wrong one.

it's good thing for macpherson that Field esteems her the way she does...

16. She should apologize for that
but in all fairness McPerhson didn't realize her phone was being hacked by Murdock. She had only her deductive logic to quide her.

Maybe not. Maybe she's just a mean woman with a prima dona attitude. But we don't know for sure. Misunderstandings and wrong conclusions happen all the time without. but like I said, once the truth is out McPerson would do herself a favor if she apologized and offered to make some sort of amends.

29. fast judgement if you don't know what all was hacked
the sienna miller jude law case shows us that this is very emotional stuff. People you trust most with your information and suddenly it goes public. a lot of damage is done by stuff like that.

21. given how much us media has fallen into Murdoch's ownership
it is hard to imagine that there isn't a likely story here in the US. I would guess it is more the latter (doesn't want to look) than the former.
