Fla. April unemployment rate drops to 10.8 percent
Source: Business Week

For the first time in more than a year and a half, fewer than a million Floridians were unemployed as the state's jobless rate dropped for the fourth straight month to 10.8 percent in April, state officials said Friday.

That's a 0.3 percentage point decline from March.

The April unemployment rate is Florida's lowest in 19 months but still 1.8 percentage point higher than the national rate of 9 percent.

It also means 996,000 Floridians were out of work. The last time that number was below a million was October 2009.

3. Surely Scott and his ilk will take all credit
since they pushed and passed that huge jobs bill.......oh yeah thats right no job creating bills were passed before the state legislature closed shop for the session. But they did find the time to pass a college voter suppression bill and 5 anti abortion bills.

6. Mostly desperate workers who quit looking... .. they no longer count.
pRick Scott has reduced the already paltry unemployment benefits of $275 a week down to 13 weeks maximum.

And.. if you collect any govt "welfare", you will have to be drug tested (at your own cost) at any one of the pRick Scott-owned health clinics. (Open 24-hours and conveniently located up and down the coast in Florida.)

But it's OK.. because Scott transferred control of all stock in Solantic Health Care (which he built with stolen money from Medicare) over to his wife. See how easy that was? Isn't that cool?

So the media can no longer claim that he is forcing people to use HIS clinics. And of course.. the media and all of their Tea Bagger vermon accept this and are just fine with the poor and lazy unemployed being forced into drug testing ....ala pRick Scott.

Scott also got together with 2 CEO's from State Farm Insurance.. and they passed a law this week that says Insurance carriers can raise their Homeowner rates 16%. They also passed a law that makes it easier for the Insurance companies to deny your claim.... even in the event of a hurricane.

Just because you paid your outrageous premiums.. what makes you think you are going to be able to recover jack-shit from the Reupuke Insurance companies and pRick Scott? Silly voters.

Ahhh.. life in Republican hell known as Florida. It goes on... USA...USA...USA..USA....

7. Although I live in Florida, it wasn't Scott that has frozen my pay for
two years - that was done by Obama. It isn't Scott's administration that doesn't count food & fuel when calculating inflation - it is however Obama's administration. The one you like and want to support might just be the one making that very difficult.

8. There are many measures of inflation
and it wasn't the Obama administration that started the one that is "minus food and fuel". And that measure isn't used for a lot of CPI based adjustments

11. Did you bother to read the linked info?
There are many different measures of inflation. It would be ridiculous to simply stop measuring CPI less fuel and food. And I'm curious what CPI adjustments are based on the "minus food and fuel" CPI. As the linked information states: "None of the prominent legislated uses of the CPI excludes food and energy. Social security and federal retirement benefits are updated each year for inflation by the All Items CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). Individual income tax parameters and Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) returns are based on the All Items CPI-U."
