Walker gives himself more power to fill high state jobs
Move extends trend; critics argue it politicizes posts

Madison — Gov. Scott Walker will be able to name political appointees to fill three dozen civil-service jobs that handle open records requests from the public under the budget-repair law he signed last week.

The changes affecting 15 state agencies and offices are among the provisions of the law that drew less attention over the past month because of the epic fight over its provisions stripping public employee unions of most of their bargaining power.

Walker's separate 2011-'13 budget proposal would also make a political appointment out of another key civil service job - the top lawyer spot at the agency overseeing state labor law.

Jay Heck, executive director of the Wisconsin affiliate of the liberal group Common Cause, said the change to political appointments didn't save the state any money and shouldn't have been included in the budget-repair bill. The measure continued a process - begun under previous Republican and Democratic governors - to exert political influence over more public jobs, said Heck, whose group advocates for taxpayer funding of political campaigns and openness in government.

3. Even if they recall this psychopathic, power-mad a$$
Wisconsin will have a long haul digging itself out of the mess he's made of their state.

4. Power Grab!?
It comes as no surprise, really.

I'll have to give Republicans credit on this one - normally they don't know jack about any particular topic, but when it comes to power grabs, they're experts. :puke:

5. Do they ever think that this will bite them in the ass when the tables are turned?
Or does he think he'll appoint himself emperor of Wisconsin for life soon?

I nominate WI as the poster-state for the "Banana"...no, make that "Cheese Curd"...Republic of 2011. Walker's stunts are so foul that it's amazing he can even face the media, the public, or anyone who isn't an over-paid, under-qualified toady. Print media must photoshop out the puppet wires connected to the Koch hands. I feel so sorry for the Badgers who must suffer this fool and his destructive policies, until he's recalled. We Buckeyes are dealing with another Koch puppet-lackey, the arrogant, spoiled-child Li'l Johnny K-sick; he will face the same fate...God (if there is one) willing. :grr: :puke:

7. But what is wrong with the sycophantic Republican idiots who are going along with this?
Why would they give THEMSELVES less power?

9. Not just Republican power grab.
This is a political power grab. I have yet to see any democrat give up any power when they got into office. And the article even says that this is just continuing a process that previous democrats and republicans have been attempting.

11. Actually, this provision merely rectifies a long-standing problem.
Open-records laws were never meant to apply to Republican administrations, and Walker has now assured that they will not be so applied.

And yes, the Republicans are now permanently in charge of Wisconsin, having made it illegal for most Democrats to vote.

12. Political Nepotism
I am sure that his appointees will be more stupid than he is because if not he would be fostering a possible coupe. I can hear doors slamming as people leave the state of Wisconsin. Anybody recall the bumper sticker ESCAPE FROM WISCONSIN of the late 70’s?

Way to go herr Walker!

14. If the Recalls Fail, Winsconsin is the New Georgia
and we will never win another election there.

27 states, with a total of 270 electoral votes, have Teabagger governors and Teabagger legislatures.
The recalls are our last chance to change that number before 2012.

If they fail, the 2012 elections could be lost already.
