Gingrich Officially in 2012 Race... Finally
Source: Fox News

It took awhile, but Newt Gingrich is officially a candidate for the presidency in 2012. The former House speaker made the announcement via Twitter and Facebook Wednesday.

Gingrich will also sit down for an exclusive with Fox News' Sean Hannity Wednesday night to talk more about his decision. He came excruciatingly close, at least for an eager corps of political reporters, to making his announcement in March before pulling back. Instead he created a website called newtexplores2012.com, without actually creating a presidential exploratory committee.

Gingrich brings considerable name recognition to the Republican field, a quality candidates like former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum have been working furiously to attain.

However, a new Gallup poll suggests that although many Americans know who Gingrich is, he still has some work to do if he's going to get their vote. Among Republicans 84 percent recognize his name. But Gingrich's Positive Intensity Score is only 11, below this week's average of 13 for all Republican contenders.

3. I don't understand this media fascination with "name recognition". . .
Sometimes, all it means is a greater percentage of people are well-aware what an ass you are. I don't see this as a positive.

9. Gussie Fink-Nottle has as much chance of being elected president
Gussie Fink-Nottle is of course Bertie Wooster's friend, a fish-faced, socially awkward newt-fancier who cannot hold his liquor and is in love with Madeleine Bassett.

Fish faced? Socially awkward? In love with a bug-eyed blonde? Hmmm. . .

17. Now there's big money in catching him with Future Trophy #4.
Really big money, if one has pictures.

My recollection is that he prefers oral sex from his playmates, in his car, often in or near the public, like in his driveway or the along streets around the Capitol.

Won't be nearly as easy now that he can justify a limo. But the drivers... those people are probably paid poorly for the risk they take and are likely treated like Newt treats all his subordinates--like dirt. A few bills in the front window might make the back ones come down at the right time.

Good luck!

22. If you really want to be amused...
... Gallup notes that there are only six Republican candidates who poll above 50% in name recognition. Not one of them, with the arguable exception of Mike Huckabee, is a viable candidate.

http://pollingmatters.gallup.com/2011/03/name-recognition-and-positive-intensity.html

The others, Palin, Romney, Bachmann, Ron Paul, and of course Newt, are desperately flawed loons and have gained their notoriety by acting accordingly (you can toss Trump in there too, though he's not listed).

That puts the corporate money-shovelers in the uncomfortable position of having to back a batsh!t crazy candidate best known for acting unreliably (Gingrich and Palin, for example, both resigned from their elected positions, while Romney and Paul switched parties) and prone to self-destruction, or they can shovel even more money at a more viable candidate who will need a giant PR campaign to even compete with the loons.

Just because they can back a candidate with ridiculous sums of cash doesn't mean they will, as they won't want to invest if they aren't guaranteed a return. And Gingrich, maybe the most personally repulsive of all the candidates, has already wired the Republican Wurlitzer so that all the propaganda that's fit to print goes through his office first.

So we'll see how that works out for them.

20. The latest act of the RepubliCON circus!
So they want this freakin' clown? Does he actually think he can win? I dunno, personally, I wouldn't want an amphibian creature for my president. Perhaps he will choose the Geico gecko as a running mate. There would be a ticket!

"But Gingrich's Positive Intensity Score is only 11,..."

....not until he writes his own Mein Kampf and gets his PIS up to a solid 15, would I ever consider him a worthy potential Fuhrer....Heil Gingrich!
