Conn. Rep. Tong becomes 3rd Democrat to announce candidacy to succeed Lieberman in US Senate

HARTFORD, Conn. — A third Democrat has announced his intention to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.

State Rep. William Tong of Stamford said Sunday he wants to prove that Americans have better opportunities than previous generations despite a prevailing belief that the American dream is in jeopardy.

Tong made his comments on WFSB-TV’s “Face the State.”

1. We just have to make sure he is not a bludog.
By his past record shall he be judged.

2. I've always found it odd that as we try to get past racism...
race or gender is mentioned at almost every turn.

What happened to to "qualified"?

As long as someone is qualified, it is best to judge them on their record. Male/female; black, white, asian, Indian, American Indian, Eskimo, a mixture of any, GLBT, straight, or any other variable along those lines makes no difference at all. All of these peripherals are meaningless, (except to the very shallow).

As long as the media foists this upon us, we will be dragged back to the nightmare of racism and all of he damage it leaves in it's wake. Everything we work for to eradicate racism goes back to square one each time I read some tripe like this.

OK, rant over.

3. We need more people of color in the senate!
Not including "white Hispanics," people or color are at least 20% of the population in the US. Yet whites still utterly dominate the senate. It's ok to take this into consideration when deciding which candidates to support.

5. I know Chris Murphy and he is a stellar progressive who beat 30-yr. Rep. Nancy Johnson
He would make an excellent senator and put Lie-berman to shame

6. Whoever, I'll just be glad to see the last to Lieberpuke
Anybody's got to be an improvement over that egomaniacal, opportunistic traitor.
