(D-Ne) Nelson: An intel trove from Osama
Source: Omaha World Herald

By Robynn Tysver

The computer hard drives and other intelligence gathered at Osama bin Laden's hideout may help the U.S. determine whether Pakistani officials helped shelter the globe's most wanted terrorist.

That's according to Sen. Ben Nelson, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee who attended a closed-door meeting Tuesday with CIA Director Leon Panetta.

The Nebraskan also said he believes President Barack Obama's administration should release photos of Bin Laden's corpse. Wednesday afternoon, the administration said it would not release a photo of bin Laden's body.

“I believe some of this material may actually aid in the determination of whether or not there were high level officials (in Pakistan) ...simply looking the other way,” Nelson said in a telephone press conference.

2. The question is not whether we recovered intelligence materials from OBL's crib.
Edited on Wed May-04-11 04:46 PM by Moondog
The questions are whether any of it is actionable, whether we can act on it soon enough to matter, and if so whether we will have the cojones to act on it quickly.

My suspicion is that the answers are yes, maybe, and no.

On edit: Sheesh - typing in those HTML codes isn't exactly intuitive, is it?

never heard of the GLBC or their ale. But I'm going to have to figure out how to get some.

Thanks for telling me about it.

7. Apparently, it is a "pub exclusive"
Which means that they don't bottle it.
I could not find a poster on their online store, either. Dang!

4. Finally, the links between Pakistani ISI, Pakistani military,
Pakistani nuclear establishment and all sorts of terrorists -- Kashmiri terrorists, Taliban terrorists, Al Q'aeda terrorists etc. will be exposed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pakistani leadership was sending birthday greetings to Osama hahaha.

8. It's a shame they didn't take him alive.
He could have told us all about how St. Ronnie made him the piece of shit that he was. He could have given proper credit to the Reagan Retreads that were in the G Dumbass Admin.
