Reid dislocates shoulder in fall
Source: AP

WASHINGTON — An aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says the lawmaker dislocated his right shoulder and has a bump over his left eye after he fell on Wednesday.

Spokesman Jon Summers said Reid went outside to exercise on a rainy day, put his hand on a wet surface and slipped. The Nevada Democrat was treated at George Washington Hospital and released.

Summers said the 71-year-old Reid planned to go to work as usual on Wednesday. Reid was absent at the start of Senate proceedings, with Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the No. 2 Democrat, taking his place.

2. If he dislocated it, they should help him find it again.
:hide:

In all seriousness, I hope he was okay (those often cause gut-wrenching pain), and that he recovers quickly.

7. Ouch! I fell while hiking and dislocated my shoulder
I had to walk two miles back to the car to get to a hospital. It's the most pain I have ever felt in my life. Heal well Senator Reid.

9. Jeeze that's amazing, glad you're ok now.... and to Senator Reid, I wish
a speedy recovery.

This is not the best time to lose a few days as Majority Leader, but he can and he should rest up, and get well soon. Schumer can take over for a few days.

12. Thanks! That happened six years ago
Once the shoulder was put back in place, it didn't hurt at all, but it took a lot of morphine before the doctors attempted to put it back in place!! From what I understand, if a doctor is there (like during a football game) and can do it immediately, it's easier than waiting a few hours as I did.

Sen Reid will be wearing a sling for a while, but shouldn't have any other discomfort.

15. Frailty, cognitive slips, information processing speed reduction, recall problems...
...with Reid I'm seeing an all to familiar pattern for someone of his age. He would be best served if he hangs up his hat after this term.

17. Second that
Our choir director has been failing, and the falling was the first sign of it. Now she's in the ICU for weeks....this wasn't her first fall, but it may the last.
