Most Prefer Balanced Budget to Tax Cuts, Don't Believe Taxes Have Decreased
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGAB61AD0TD.html

WASHINGTON (AP) - By almost a 2-1 margin, Americans prefer balancing the nation's budget to cutting taxes, according to an Associated Press poll, even though many believe their overall tax burden has risen despite tax cuts over the past three years.

About six in ten, 61 percent, chose balancing the budget while 36 percent chose tax cuts when they were asked which was more important, according to a poll conducted for the AP by Ipsos Public Affairs.

As the nation's tax deadline of April 15 approaches, people's lukewarm feeling about tax cuts may be influenced by a belief that recent cuts haven't helped them personally.

Half in the poll, 49 percent, said their overall tax burden - including federal, state and local taxes - had gone up over the past three years. That's almost four times the 13 percent in the poll who said their overall taxes had gone down.

money, middle class gets taxed thanks to outsourcing, no jobs, shitty jobs, etc and monies get thrown into the neocon blackhole of military offense.
My property taxes are thru the roof, my health insurance thru the roof, I dropped my house insurance completely, and we have closed up the whole house cept for one or two rooms. Add to that we dont go anywhere, and sit tight. Its too expensive.
Gas prices shot up, and theres only one place to put the blame. The Bush administration and their policies.
instead, they keep pouring more money into the blackhole called Iraq and the top 1% continue to outsource and make massive short term profits as they liquidate and loot our treasury.
Dark days ahead, indeed.

4. Dubya's lies about tax cuts 'on average' don't wash because ...
people know what their own experience is. They may be swayed by lies about WMDs in Iraq, but they know that they haven't seen any benefit from Dubya's tax-giveaways to the rich. They may not know whether Dubya can built democracy in Iraq, but they have experienced that he hasn't brought prosperity to them -- in fact, has done the opposite. With all the Republican spin this year, maybe if its harnessed to produce energy, it could at least bring energy prices down. ;-)

5. Minor decreases in federal taxes offset by increases at state and local
levels. Shrub wrecked the economy, so states and cities are having to raise their taxes. The overall tax burden increases.

Meanwhile, health insurance goes sky-high.

Why is anyone surprised by this? I just don't understand how anyone could have believed these Republican lies to begin with.....it just boggles my mind.
