US to decide whether US soldiers will be kept in Iraq
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040413/pl_afp/us_iraq_military&cid=1521&ncid=1480

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The United States was to decide whether it would prolong the stay of some US soldiers in Iraq (news - web sites), according to General Richard Cody, the army's operational planning chief.

"I was in the tank yesterday (Monday)," the general told reporters, referring to the conference room where top Pentagon (news - web sites) officials meet. "Several options are on the table." snip

He said the joint chiefs of staff were "looking at other options strategically" and noted that the final decision could go "above and beyond retaining troops."

"Sometime today the decision will be made," he added.

13. You think that this is it?
Could it be now, before the election, Shrub will be history, but he's history already, don't ya think? Then Kerry will inherit Iraq, and the draft, think that might have been the plan all along?

16. yeah, Bush & Kerry worked it out through secret Skull & Bones protocols
They used passenger pidgeons to carry coded messages between yachts off of Kennebunkport and Block Island. This was decided years ago, Jimmy Carter and the Trilateral Commission even gave it a nod. That's why Kurt Cobain had to die--he knew too much--do you think the lyrics in "Teen Spirit" were just a coincidence?

18. If Bush brings back the draft, Bush will loose more than
any other incumbent in history. And it won't work. Americans are way too lazy and cowardly and especially yahoo suburban spoiled GOP types are the most say one thing, live another group of hypocrits that ever lived. The young Dems never were for this war anyway. No, the draft would be a joke and a tragedy.

7. Congress enacting a draft would be the death knell for them
they have to bring the troops home. Backroom deals, get those contracts to other countries, France, Germany ,Russia, start sharing the oil and contracts. Thats what they have to do. Its too late for Bush now, he lied and kids died.
Now, bring them home.

2. "other options"
"above and beyond retaining troops"

Someone want to dispell this nasty gut feeling I have in my stomach in interpreting what that means...or at least shed some optimism on this quote that I may not be seeing...

Families of the 94th are on the warpath

By SCOTT BROOKS and DALE VINCENT

http://www.theunionleader.com/articles_showa.html?article=36042

HOLLIS — Military families threatened to wage a war of their own last
night, as sadness turned to sharp anger at the Bush administration for
keeping their loved ones in Iraq.

It was another monthly meeting for relatives of reservists in the
Londonderry-based 94th Military Police Company of the U.S. Army
Reserve, but this one was unlike any other before it.

Two days after learning their loved ones would not be leaving the
Middle East as expected Sunday, the families said they're ready to
launch a political fight.

"God forbid, if one soldier dies, there will be no end to anything any
one of our members can do," said Gerri Whittredge, who lent the group
her Hollis home for the meeting. "I will be in Washington, D.C., at
Mr. Bush's door, shoving his words down his throat."

10. NPR this morning: Some GI's were on the plane and told to get off
Female reporter said she had been told by some troops in Iraq (wasn't specific) that they were on the plane to leave and they were told to get off and get their gear.

Man I bet they were/are SUPER PO'd.
