Magnitude 5.4 earthquake hits Kazakhstan - USGS

ALMATY, - A magnitude 5.4 earthquake was recorded in eastern Kazakhstan on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicentre was 71 km (44 miles) northeast of Kazakhstan's largest city, Almaty, at a depth of 20 km (12.4 miles), the geological survey said on its website, www.usgs.gov.

Reuters reporters in Almaty felt buildings shake for several seconds, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

1. Quick note on Kazakhstan

It is the country where the Apple originated from. They have thousands of different apple trees and there is a huge research study going on there right now. Just an interesting factoid of the day. I hope everyone's alright from the earthquake though.
