Jerry Brown has cancerous growth removed from nose
Source: The Sacramento Bee

Gov. Jerry Brown underwent a medical procedure yesterday to remove a cancerous growth from his nose, his office said today. The procedure has caused the 73-year-old governor to cancel his scheduled appearance at the California Democratic Convention on Sunday.

The procedure was scheduled after tests showed the presence of a slow-growing form of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma, in a growth on the right side of his nose, according to his office.

All the detected cancerous cells were removed and Brown was released from the doctor's office yesterday to his home, where he is working today.

1. My grandfather had that stuff taken off his nose every year for the last 25 or 30 years of
his life, lol. He just wound up with a kind of scarred up, overgrown nose, as old men do, but he lived to 88.

2. Hopefully he'll get checked once or twice a year with that light and get that stuff frozen off
before anything has a chance to emerge again.

7. I had one removed from the bridge of my nose last year,
Edited on Sun May-01-11 01:26 AM by tblue37
another from my eyelid several years ago, and one from my thigh a few years before that. Basal cell cancers are not that big a deal, though I do still have a small scar on the side of the bridge of my nose. I don't think anyone else notices it much, but I am not crazy about it.

9. i've had a few bcc's removed from my own nose
that's the cost of having light skin and living in california  the cancerous cells are softer than the surrounding healthy tissue. they scrape (or cut) until they're gone. i grew up in So Cal and almost everyone in my family has had them removed also. it drives me nuts to see youngsters lying on the beach, by the pool, or in tanning beds!
