Body of SA man mutilated in Iraq

The remains of the South African killed in the recent fighting in Iraq have been found.

Gray Brandfield, who lived in Helderkruin on the West Rand, was shot dead on Wednesday during fighting between Ukrainian and Shi'a radicals over control of the city of al-Kut.

Al-Kut is situated 185km south-east of Baghdad and has seen some of the fiercest fighting to date in the war between coalition forces and Iraqi insurgents.

It is believed that Brandfield, who was working for a British security company called Hart, was shot dead while in a house with two other South Africans.
