Pawlenty: ‘I’m running for president’

(CNN) - Former Republican Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty told CNN’s Piers Morgan Tuesday he’s in the race.

“I’m running for president,” Pawlenty said in an interview set to air Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on “Piers Morgan Tonight.” “I’m not putting my hat in the ring rhetorically or ultimately for vice president. I’m focused on running for president.”

This wasn't on the radar earlier; I'm thinking T-Paw was seeing The Donald suck all the oxygen out of the Republican campaign.

5. W left Texas in good hands...
politically speaking, with a Republican Gov. and a strong Republican delegation in Congress. Pawlenty has turned the keys over to the Democrats; be pretty embarrassing if he couldn't win home turf.

He's not doing the wishy washy "exploratory committee" bullshit. He already knows what his positions are on issues (compared to Romney, Gingrich, and Palin). I think the republicans would be smart to nominate him. I'm not convinced they are that smart.
