Kansas City, Missouri School District will no longer provide teachers at Children's Mercy Hospital
Source: NBC Action News

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Shrinking budgets are claiming a school program that has helped chronically ill students for almost a century.

For the past 99 years, the Kansas City, Missouri School District has assigned full-time teachers to work in Children’s Mercy Hospital. Those staff members have helped kids from around the Kansas City area—and around the country—keep up with their homework.

However, the district says it can no longer afford the service. Last week, a letter arrived at the hospital , stating the current contract would expire on June 30 and not be renewed.

6. When my son was a toddler, he was in the hospital
at UW Madison for a week, recuperating from surgery. I stayed there with him. I really enjoyed seeing the teacher work with the chronically ill students. She did so much good for those kids.
