Eight U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iraq Attacks-Military (in the past 2 days)
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Insurgents killed eight U.S. soldiers in various attacks in the past two days, the U.S. military said in a statement on Sunday.

The deaths and attacks had not previously been reported.

Four 1st Armored Division soldiers were killed in two separate attacks on April 9 in Baghdad, the statement said, while three 1st Infantry Division soldiers were killed and two wounded in an ambush near Tikrit, north of Baghdad the same day.

On April 10th, a Marine was killed as a result of fighting in the al-Anbar province west of Baghdad.

2. So they waited for Easter Sunday to release this news
The GOP/AEI media center appears to good at what it is supposed to do, fog up the war.

Hopefully the families of those fallen were not also made to wait.

3. Some of these are ADDITIONS to the deaths already reported, not TOTALS
To wit, before this report:

9-Apr: 6
1 - 13 COSCOM killed in attack on supply convoy, Abu Ghraib;
1 - 1AD killed by IED near Camp Cook, Sadr City Baghdad;
3 - I MEF killed in action west of Baghdad (Fallujah?);
1 - 1st Cavalry division killed in IED attack, Taji

10-Apr: 3
1 - Airman killed in mortar attack, Balad airbase;
1 - I MEF killed in action, Fallujah;
1 - I MEF killed in action, Ramadi

11-Apr: 3
2 - 1st Cavalry Division, killed in Apache shootdown, west of Baghdad;
1 - 1ID(?) died of wounds sustained 9-Apr in Baquba

After this report (I assume that the 1st Armored Division soldier already listed is included, and the Marine is already listed; changes appear in bold print):

9-Apr: 12
1 - 13 COSCOM killed in attack on supply convoy, Abu Ghraib;
4 - 1AD killed by IED near Camp Cook, Sadr City Baghdad; (+3 killed in Baghdad/ no specifics)
3 - I MEF killed in action west of Baghdad (Fallujah?);
1 - 1st Cavalry division killed in IED attack, Taji
3 - 1ID, killed in ambush, Tikrit

10-Apr: 3
1 - Airman killed in mortar attack, Balad airbase;
1 - I MEF killed in action, Fallujah;
1 - I MEF killed in action, Ramadi

11-Apr: 3
2 - 1st Cavalry Division, killed in Apache shootdown, west of Baghdad;

4. The PNAC
was willing to sacrifice some 2500 people to get their "unifying event". The DoD estimated 3000 dead in the Iraq Campaign (before they advised against it).

We know Bush does not care how many die, just so he gets re-selected.

So we are left with: at what point will the American population stand up at say "ENOUGH!"?

5. The US populace, shameful people that they are
have no excuse for their arrogance, no excuse for their not caring, no excuse for allowing themselves to be brainwashed. There reaches a point where its human laziness on their part to continue to allow this bloodbath to continue. They believed all the lies from the beginning. I wash my hands of them, I avoid them like the plague. I have lost what little hope I had in them as possibly being decent people. They arent.

There's a huge amount of inertia to overcome, as well as the instruments of psychological warfare deployed against the American people by the regime, but the tide genuinely seems to be turning. The US has survived dark times and corrupt leadership before, and we will survive the current crop as well.

13. Sadly, Easter day will be bloody too...
.. but we will not hear of it until tomorrow. The government doesn't want to spoil Bush's Easter photo op at Fort Hood. I doubt the Iraqis are observing an Easter cease-fire for us.
