Michelle Bachmann calls judges 'black-robed masters' in Iowa
Source: Politico

DES MOINES – Ripping judges as “black-robed masters,” Michele Bachmann praised conservative Iowans on Wednesday for sacking three members of the state Supreme after they legalized gay marriage.

Bachmann, speaking to a group of home school advocates, credited conservatives with sending a “shot across the bow” to judges throughout the country.

“You said enough is enough and sent them packing, and I’m very proud of what you’ve done,” she said, repeatedly calling judges “black-robed masters.” “It’s very rare that a judge does not go back to office.”

Iowans ousted the judges last fall – in what in other years would have been a routine retention election – after the April 2009 Iowa Supreme Court ruling that made Iowa the first state in the Midwest to sanction same-sex marriage. About 54 percent voted "No," booting Chief Justice Marsha Ternus and Justices David Baker and Michael Streit after a massive campaign against them led by Bob Vander Plaats and the Iowa For Freedom group. . .

I wouldn't normally post her ravings but she really pisses me off with this one on so many levels on a day we lost one of the most compassionate fighters for human rights.

Also, the imagery is just about what you would expect from the increasingly threatening GOP. Way to go; why not add "jack booted thugs," Michelle? Maybe because you are all for judicial decisions when they go the way of your Koch-type wealthy allies?

6. Good comparison, but Bachmann has actual political power
And Anita Bryant was a one-note hater. Michelle hates on so many levels.

8. Depends on how they rule, of course.
If they rule to take individual rights away and for her corporate masters, they are OK by her.

Otherwise, shoot 'em.

10. That's right Michelle; they're there to rightly interpret the Constitutionality of legislation
precisely to keep people from trampling the rights of others...no matter how much YOU wish you had the power to do that trampling.

13. Yes, It's Good For Judges To Be Accountable
yeah Ms. Bachmann, because it's really a good idea for judges to be more worried about doing what's popular so they can be re-elected than doing what's constitutional. So, even though this country has a 14th amendment that supposedly guarantees all citizens equal rights, judges should deny gays the right to marry because there are enough people in this country with an "ick" factor when it comes to homosexuality.

14. Ugh
This sort of thing is why in my country I wouldn't want judges to be elected; too much risk that hate-campaigns could deter them from doing their duty according to the law.

Michele Bachmann is one of the nastiest, vilest, most insane CREATURES in politics.
