Gunmen kill two security officers

GUNMEN attacked Iraqi security forces in northern Iraq, killing two and kidnapping three Kurdish officers, a commander of the Iraqi force said.

All five men, officers from the Iraqi Civil Defence Corps, were manning a checkpoint south of the city of Kirkuk when they came under attack, said General Anwar Mohammed Amin, chief of the force in Kirkuk.
Kidnappings of Iraqi security forces are rare. There has been a series of kidnappings of foreigners in southern Iraq this week.
