The Columbus Dispatch
Public workers in Ohio who were already worried about having their collective bargaining powers weakened now have a new paycheck-related concern: Gov. John Kasich wants all of them to pay more for their pensions.

State and local public workers currently pay 10 percent of their salaries toward their pensions, and government employers pay at least 14 percent. Under Kasich's proposed two-year, $55.5 billion budget, that would be changed to a 12-12 split for most employees

1. I posted a few days ago about what these increases
do to a real person's paycheck in Wisconsin. My daughter sent me the figures. She is not sure she can stay in Wisconsin, if her checks get smaller.

This Ohio plan sounds just as bad. People need to start talking about how much their take-home pay is going to decrease. They need to start letting the businesses in Ohio know just how much less they will have to spend. People won't eat in restaurants. Retail businesses will suffer. People won't buy cars. Let the traditionally repub businesses and supporters know just how much their pocketbooks are going to suffer.

2. It is a double hit. The 14% that the government employer pays is part of the compensation package
A cut to 12% is a 2% cut in compensation. By paying more into their pensions the employees have less take home pay.
