CNN Time Poll: Support for president's Iraq policy falls sharply
CNN) -- Americans appear divided over how well President Bush is handling his job as president, while support for his Iraq policy is slipping, according to a recent poll.

In addition, the CNN/Time poll showed that Bush didn't pick up significant support for his handling of the economy despite the robust March jobs report announced last week.

The telephone poll of 1,005 adult Americans was taken Thursday night. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

In the March 26-28 poll, 51 percent approved of Bush's handling of the war. In the most recent poll, 44 percent said they approve.

The economic numbers were virtually unchanged, with 41 percent expressing approval and 54 percent disapproval, both down 1 point.

1. The Gallup "poll" is junk!
Every other poll has Bushler at 48% or less.

4. This isn't a Gallup poll
and it has Bush at 49%. However these are adults, not registered voters, so the relevant number is almost certainly lower.

3. Live by the sword, die by the sword
Just like the Patton character says in Francis Coppola's script of the Franklyn Shaffner film: "America loves a winner; America will not tolerate a loser..."

It's sick and sad that we'll abide thuggery and outright monstrousness in the name of greed and pissy revenge IF IT'S SUCCESSFUL...

Now Junior's in a holding game: he's on the defensive, knowing that he'll not gain any more support, but must consolidate all he has.

6. Funny when his approval rating was 56% it wasn't called a "split"
It was called STRONG support. Now apparently 56% don't approve of his handling (what fishin' with Roland Martin today) but that is a "split".

7. American Casualties every day?!
How the hell can 44% still support his Iraq policy? Are their heads buried in the ground?

8. Well....
There's probably a 10% - 15% cushion from people who will say they support a sitting President during a war even if they do have concerns about how it's going. Add that to the rabid fundies who believe in his holy war and 44% seems about right. It'll be interesting to see if he loses that soft support and is only left with the true believers.
