White House Works to Declassify Al Qaeda Threat Memo

Officials said the (one and one-half page) memo was not expected to be released on Friday and appeared more likely to come out as early as Saturday.
Bush was spending the week at his ranch near Crawford, Texas, and was being joined by members of his family for Easter weekend. His national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, was also expected in Crawford for Easter.
The memo's title -- "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States" -- was revealed on Thursday in public testimony by Rice, and was a subject of close questioning.

This all just seems too easy and convenient. I'll bet this memo has been manufactured out of whole cloth to seem like it's damaging only to amount to nothing, so the BFEE can scream, "I told you so!!" And even though it proves nothing and does not let the Bushies off the hook, the good puppy press will trumpet it to the skies.

15. Why Redacting? I thought it was just "Historical" per Condi

Why do they need to "black out" anything, since Condi assured us under oath that it was just a listing of "historical" information? Just Old News, nothing to worry about.

16. The only ones who've seen the memo

the ENTIRE memo, is Gorelick and Zelikow. Remember, Bush made them come to the White House to see it. They couldn't take a copy of it out of the special room they were placed in to read it, and even their notes were scrutinized before they could leave. Roemer made a motion during the hearing yesterday that he's only seen a paragraph of the memo at the most.

I can't help but wonder if the worst part of the memo came out in testimony yesterday. The title was pretty damning as well as the mention of OBL planning to hijack planes. THAT is the smoking gun. they knew and did nothing.

Rice said they gave warnings to them....What was it? Maybe something like:

"If you know what is good for you and your industry, you won't be scaring people off the airlines with high visible security and extra precautions."
