Kenneth: I'm submitting early so I don't get caught chatting while at work!
My brother is currently working contract security in Kuwait. He's coming up on the end of his year long contract in a few months and will be coming home. Needless to say, trying to find a job from Kuwait is hard, especially considering he's thirty and has never had a "career path." He has some college, maybe 1/2 way to a degree, but not close enough. He spent 6 years enlisted in the army with a security clearance doing intelligence work. When he got out, he worked management in a shipping company then in a cell phone sales store.
He's going through a book called "What Color is Your Parachute" and he has come up with the following skills:
Realistic Advisor
Perceptive Leader
Assertive Manager
Decisive Problem Solver
Dependable Expeditor
Charismatic Communicator
His interests are:
National Events/Politics
World Events/Politics
Intelligence Business
Considering his experience and that he also has a wife and three kids to support (though she does work too), what industries should he be looking in for a job and where should he be looking? What is he qualified for that he would also be interested in? Thanks!
Kenneth Bredemeier: Good morning all.
He ought to do what interests him. And there are plenty of defense contractors here who might be interested in him. They key thing you mentioned is that he has a security clearance, a credential many would love to have. He also ought to check about any out-placement services leaving the military.
