Tea party, union protesters visit Ohio Statehouse

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Union protesters and tea party activists are expected to descend on the Ohio Statehouse on Thursday in opposing shows of force as senators hear more testimony on a bill that would strip public employees of collective bargaining rights.

Ohio is facing an estimated $8 billion deficit, and Republican Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sik) has said union labor costs must be reined in.

Earlier this week, hundreds of union protesters packed the Statehouse as government officials from around the state lined up in support of the bill. It would eliminate collective bargaining rights and salary schedules for public employees across the state.

Kasich has expressed his support for the bill in concept, but he's also signaled he might offer his own plan that could go even further, including banning public employee strikes.

This guy is going to lay waste to this state in the time it takes to recall him, which DUH-hians won't do for some dumbfuck reason.

I think this state must like it's "freezing, dying" label. Ohio is just too goddamned religion-poisoned churchy, regressive and racist, and it's EVERYwhere, not just in rural areas. It's like we embrace being stupid.

was described in another article as the French Revolution in reverse. Instead of assuring that the middle and lower classes get their fair share of the pie, their tactics assure that the Have Mores will continue to have more, and they will get less and less.

My girlfriends husband works for ODOT and she is really worried about this as he was ready to retire. Now they have to reconsider.
Work your whole life only to find out that idiots like Kasich can make terrible shit happen quickly.
