Egypt shutters banks after new protests from employees, police

Egypt's new government on Sunday ordered banks closed for the next two days after protests by National Bank workers apparently drove out the head of the institution.

The chairman of the National Bank of Egypt, Tarek Amer, told employees via e-mail that he submitted his resignation on Sunday, according to a person who received the message.

"I was saddened because I could not enter the bank's building today due to hundreds of protesting employees," the e-mail said, according to a bank employee, who was not authorized to speak to the media and asked not to be named.

1. Employees say that Mubarak supporters got the best jobs

and pay. No opportunities for anyone who was on the 'inside'.

The police joining asking for more money and better hours. Are these the same police who were part of Mubarak's regime, beating up people who dared to criticize the regime? And what role did they play in the revolution?

I think anyone who aided and abetted the Regime should get to the back of the line as far as benefiting from the revolution. Some may even have committed crimes. A lot has to be sorted out.
