Green River Killer to face new charge, but not death penalty

SEATTLE -- Prosecutors say they plan to charge Green River Killer Gary Ridgway with a 49th murder, but he will still not face the death penalty.

King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said Monday that Ridgway is being charged in the death of Rebecca Marrero, whose remains were found in ravine near Auburn in December.

As part of his earlier plea agreement, Ridgway pleaded guilty to any past killings in King County, including those that might be discovered in the future.
