Moscow bomber 'was Islamist militant from North Caucasus'
Source: Telegraph (UK)

Police are urgently seeking information about Vitaly Razdobudko, a 32-year-old ethnic Russian man who converted to Islam. He is a native of Russia's volatile Stavropol region which is located around 800 miles south of Moscow, close to the Muslim internal republics of Chechnya and Dagestan.

An alleged member of a radical Wahhabite terror group called the Nogai Jamaat, he is suspected of being one of the bloody attack's main organisers. Some sources have suggested he may also have personally taken part in the attack. The bombing, at Moscow's busy Domodedovo airport, left 35 people dead.

Family members reported Mr Razdobudko and his wife missing last November and he has been on a federal wanted list since. Police suspect he may also have had a hand in a car bombing in the southern Russian town of Pyatigorsk last summer that injured thirty people. A picture of him published by Russian media on Thursday showed a man of Slavic appearance with closely cropped hair and a beard beneath his chin.

Up to nine other suspects are also being sought in connection with the bombing, security sources added. Like Mr Razdobudko, many of them are suspected members of the Nogai Jamaat, a terror group that emerged in the early part of the last decade in southern Russia and sided with Chechen radicals. Russia's national anti-terrorism committee has yet to officially name the group or the individuals it believes were responsible for the airport bombing however and has cautioned against drawing hasty conclusions.

Analysis: Fanning the flames of ugly nationalism

http://news.scotsman.com/world/Analysis-Fanning-the-flames-of.6703414.jp

Russia's millions of Muslim migrant workers fear Monday's suicide bombing can only worsen a rising tide of nationalist and ethnic violence against them.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the airport attack, but migrant leaders are bracing themselves for hostility.

"With this attack, I think the alienation, fear, even hatred between people from the Caucasus and the rest of the residents in Russia will only grow stronger," said Ruslan Kurbanov, of the Moscow-based Islamic Cultural Centre of Russia.

Muslim minorities make up a seventh of Russia's population. Tensions are already running so high on Moscow's streets that the prime minister, Vladimir Putin, last month urged people to shun xenophobic nationalism. A few days earlier, hundreds of ethnic Russian nationalists had made Fascist salutes and chanted racist slogans within earshot of the Kremlin in support of a football fan who was killed by a North Caucasus native.

Urals police make arrests in race hate attack plot

Police in the Urals city of Chelyabinsk have arrested a group of nationalist youths accused of plotting attacks on migrants from the Caucasus, officials said on Wednesday.

Fourteen young men aged between 16 and 18 are charged with planning to attack a market where traders from the North Caucasus region work, the Interior Ministry said. "The leader of the group was a Chelyabinsk university student," the statement said.

Recent ethnic violence involving football hooligans and nationalists has raised doubts over Russia's ability to safely host the 2018 World Cup.

A wave of nationalist disturbances swept across Russia after an ethnic Russian football fan was shot dead in a brawl with North Caucasus internal migrants in Moscow last month.

5. Interesting!
In this report from Russian sources yesterday we have Putin stating clearly there was no known connection to Chechnya reactionaries.

Now this from western (UK) news sources. Apparently backing up the calls on this event to have been orchestrated by that separatist movement. Those calls in the western press were almost immediate.

Interesting. Thanks for posting!

10. Obama puts the chill on Georgia and cuts Saakashvili's excessive enthusiasm
According to the official Georgian news agencies, during the recent meeting between Mikhail Saakashvili and Barack Obama, our president demanded that the head of the Georgian state should stop his "speculations on the Northern Caucasus". You know, I think it was a right thing to do, at least it was a high time to do it. Actually don't know how do you, but personally I hate that all over the world people think that Americans destabilize situation in the Caucasian region, cause all they consider that Georgian muddlehead president acts their under Washington's auspices. So as for me I warmly welcome the Obama's demand. Let this Georgian hairy mongrel now know his place and keep silence in it. Evidently Saakashvili hopes that here we're going to cover his fat ass in all his shady games, but here he is terribly mistaken. Not McCain and none of those doltish republicans currently rule this country. So I'm afraid that this Georgian idiot's aggressive rhetoric doesn't square anyhow with our current geopolitical interests. Luckily, unlike the current Georgian authorities, most part of our powerful politicians yet consists of rather sensible and educated people who won't fall out with the entire world because of a little gang of Georgian dummies.
