A coalition of rabbis wants Fox News chief Roger Ailes and conservative host Glenn Beck to cut out all their talk about Nazis and the Holocaust, and it's making its views known in an unusual place.

The rabbis have called on Fox News's owner, Rupert Murdoch, to sanction his two famous employees via a full-page ad in Thursday's editions of the Wall Street Journal - one of many other media properties controlled by Murdoch's News Corp.

The ad is signed by the heads of the Reform, Conservative and Reconstructionist movements as well as Orthodox rabbis.

"We share a belief that the Holocaust, of course, can and should be discussed appropriately in the media. But that is not what we have seen at Fox News," says the ad, signed by hundreds of rabbis and placed by the Jewish Funds for Justice, a nonprofit advocacy group. Earlier this month, the group organized a letter-writing campaign asking Murdoch to remove Beck from the air.

6. "Ooh, controversy! Shiny! We can't take him off the air!"
To big media, that's pretty much it in a nutshell.

And furthermore, to Beck fans and rabid RWers, this kind of controversy is only self-validating. "Hey, he must doing something right if he's getting under somebody's skin! 'They' don't like it when Beck shines the light of truth on them!"

I wish they'd stop and think: "Back in 4th grade, when Billy used to lie about me, call me names, and disparage my family, did the fact that it upset me actually mean... that Billy must have been right?? Of course not!! When my coworkers gossip about me sleeping around, should I agree with them... based on the fact that it pisses me off?? No, that would be stupid!!"

But then, empathy and self-reflection are NOT strong points with these people. As a matter of fact, they've been taught that those are signs of weakness.

P.S. Here's a way to get Beck off the air: have his fans launch a major "Save Beck" campaign. He'll be gone in a couple of months. Right? Hey, it worked, for Olbermann!

13. The Guardian - Rabbis warn Rupert Murdoch: Fox News and Glenn Beck 'using' Holocaust
Four hundred rabbis, including the leaders of all the main branches of Judaism in the US, have signed an open letter calling on Rupert Murdoch to sanction the head of Fox News and one of the channel's most famous hosts for frequent inappropriate references to the Nazis and the Holocaust.

The rabbis chose a poignant place to make their protest: they took out an advert costing at least $100,000 in one of Murdoch's own newspapers, the Wall Street Journal. The advert was printed today – the UN-designated Holocaust Remembrance Day.

In the letter, the Jewish coalition calls on Murdoch to take action against Roger Ailes, the bombastic president of Fox News, as well as against Glenn Beck, the channel's most notorious rightwing commentator. "We share a belief that the Holocaust, of course, can and should be discussed appropriately in the media. But that is not what we have seen at Fox News," the letter says. "You diminish the memory and meaning of the Holocaust when you use it to discredit any individual or organisation you disagree with. That is what Fox News has done in recent weeks."

Last November Ailes called executives of the public radio network NPR "Nazis" for having sacked a news analyst, Juan Williams, who also worked for Fox News, after Williams said he felt nervous flying on the same plane as passengers in Muslim dress. Ailes apologised to a Jewish group for the expression, though not to NPR.

is a failed test tube experiment. He looks Aryan, but his doughy physique indicates one testicle.
Murdoch has too much media influence and is an alien fifth column infiltrator determined to use his media megaphone to destroy American democracy and ideals.
Beck and Murdoch pander to America's most ignorant and fearful and easily get them to vote against their own best interests.
The Pox treason network and its terrorist air staff are the greatest threat to democracy and liberty.

No one must mention the Holocaust, out of respect, but I don't notice the rabbis saying anything about the brutalization of the Palestinians at Israeli hands. I guess human rights are reserved for a few groups, not everyone.

smack and will say his Freedom of Speech is Guaranteed under his precious Constitution. And then he will say that God has called him to tell the truth and the Liberals want to work their wonders of evil to silence the only voice that will speak up for American Freedoms and he will tearfully act as if he is being picked on by the Liberal Media. His viewers won't get that his employer is in charge of the Wall Street Journal.

this will ramp up his Anti-Semetic conspiracy paranoia?

Methinks the Jewish lobby is just using the 'Nazi' talk as a way to approach this. I'd be more concern with Beck's labeling prominent Jewish folk in some sort of conspiracy.

In Germany during the 1930's, the Nazi Party was the CONSERVATIVE movement there, much like the Tea Party and the radical evangelical right wing Republicans here.

We'll figure out that controversy bears the same relationship to debate that the Monty Python "Argument Clinic" sketch bears to debate.

"No, we won't."
"Yes, we will."
"Won't."
"Will."
"Won't. Besides, they're not related."
"They are."
"They aren't."
"Are."

"Are."
"Aren't. And your mother wears Army boots. And she got them from the Gestapo."
