Wrongful-death lawsuit filed against PG&E for San Bruno blast
Source: San Francisco Examiner

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. could have prevented the death of 20-year-old Jessica Morales, one of eight people who died in the inferno from the San Bruno gas pipeline explosion, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday by the woman’s parents.

The wrongful-death lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for negligence and “ultrahazardous activity” by PG&E. The lawsuit points to “a long list of PG&E incidents and safety lapses,” and criticizes the utility for its “sluggish” response to the Sept. 9 incident.

“PG&E had knowledge of this pipeline’s defective condition but put profits ahead of public safety,” attorney John Feder said in a statement. “No one should have lost loved ones or suffered injuries or damage to their homes.”

The lawsuit claims that the pipeline was overpressurized at the time of the explosion and that PG&E failed to maintain or properly inspect the pipe or install automatic or remote shutoff valves.

I don't see them being taken down completely by this but they will suffer only to pass on said suffering to their customers; that you can believe in! They make me sick! :puke:

4. this may be a blessing in disguise
San Francisco has been trying for years to get a measure passed that allows for a municipal owned power company; Alameda already has one and it was great

when I lived there, my electric bill was rarely over $20; my gas did come from PG&E but I never used my gas furnace and I'm sure that the cities who vote to operate their own power company could get gas from some other source than PG&E

I think Sacramento also has a municipal owned power company

2. Is this one of those frivolous lawsuits Obama was talking about?
Boy, did that get a big round of applause when he said that last night! Little people trying to hold a big corporation accountable for its lethally negligent actions. If that's not the very definition of "frivolous," then I'm not Glenn Beck!
