Report: Some Dems want former veep to enter race
From John King
CNN Washington Bureau
Friday, August 1, 2003 Posted: 1:25 PM EDT (1725 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Vice President Al Gore was "amused" by a newspaper report suggesting he is coming under pressure to reconsider his decision not to seek the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination, but he has not changed his mind, according to a confidant.

One of Gore's longtime political advisers told CNN Friday that Gore told him that "nothing has changed."

"He was definitive," said the associate, who said he spoke to the former vice president after The Hill newspaper suggested some Democrats were pressuring Gore to think about entering the race.

"Every conversation I have had with him leads me to believe there is no way -- under no circumstances," the Gore associate said. Asked specifically about the most recent conversation, the source said, "He was somewhat amused but was clear nothing has changed."

1. Amen to that.....
I'm going to bookmark this! It's about time he voiced his decision once again because there are many who started believing their own wishes and dreams here at DU.

It reminded me of an ex-husband who keeps calling you his wife.....delusional thinking...

Gore ain't running folks....sorry to see you sad. It's all for the better. At this stage of re-entry, he would of been a divider. The nine candidates and their followers have invested much into the campaign. It would of ended badly for the democrats.

9. Hmmm. Rovian spinster
Delusional?

Gore consistently beats out all comers and is dead even with Bush in the polls and he isn't even running.

BUSH is the divider - NOT GORE - and I dare say anyone who plays like this is too.

Gore Gore Gore Gore!!!!

2. Gore would only end up as the putzfrau for the mess * has left
It will take decades to clean up. Gore's life expectancy is 73. He has better things to do with his time. He did what he could for 8 years. It's no longer his responsibility. He gave it his best shot.

That's the way I see it.

4. Gore should not reenter
until there is a tremendous pull for him. i think he would make a great President (he is President but doesn't have the actual powers).

5. Gore has been too quiet for too long. He probably doesn't have
anything to say that one of the other candidates hasn't already said better.

6. if you recall, I am the biggest Gore Fan
and now I am thinking he shouldn't run, for the reasons he stated. When tweety and co started up the rebashing of him last night, I was almost sick remembering it all.

They tarnished him in a way the newcomers haven't been tarnished.

I say Kerry, now. Dean would be Ok, but it a little less liberal tha I would prefer, but I'll take him.

Clark gets a big 'fuck you' for saying "I haven't said I'm a democrat yet."

7. Al Gore is working behind the scenes on building a liberal media network
...
Gore has also been helpful to Chicago venture capitalists Sheldon and Anita Drobny, who announced in February that they planned to fund a liberal radio network to counterbalance such conservative commentators as Rush Limbaugh. Several sources said Gore has helped introduce the Drobnys to such Hollywood political forces as producer-director Rob Reiner. Comedian Al Franken, author of the book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot," is considering hosting a show on the Drobnys' network, and added that the couple has approached Gore to do regular essays. Anita Drobny declined to comment about any venture involving Gore, telling TIME: "I'm not at liberty to say anything about that. As far as Vice President Gore, you'll have to call him to ask him about his project and what they are doing." Gore and Hyatt did not respond to repeated requests for an interview.

Gore has also been spending time with Chicago venture capitalists Anita and Sheldon Drobny, who have vowed to spend $10 million to start a liberal talk radio network to counter conservatives like Rush Limbaugh. Time.com says Gore introduced the Drobnys to actor-director Rob Reiner and other liberal Hollywood heavyweights.

8. I Smell Rove at work here countering the spin
and couldn't the source be that sellout Begala who worked for the firm which handles Rove's BFEE PR(Public Strategies Inc. where Begala was a principle operative and Rove is now the primary client).

The Hill article scared the shit out of them so they ghad to counterspin with this bullshit. Unnamed?

The source is a planted Gore thwarter - somebody like Begala or Carville I'd bet - the CNN whores.

I will only believe it when Gore comes out and says there is NO WAY he would accept a draft.

Gore has his finger to the winds, believe me, and he is sure as shit still in the potential mix.

If you ask me - this is rethuglican bullshit just like the uranium from Niger was. Don't trust it.

GORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2004!!!!!!!!!!!!!
