TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Gabrielle Giffords on Thursday felt the sunshine on her face for the first time since she was shot, as doctors prepared her to leave behind the Arizona hospital where she dazzled them with her rapid recovery.

Her next stop will be a Houston rehab center, where she will face an even more arduous task: Getting life back to normal.

Her husband said he's hoping she'll make a full recovery, calling her "a fighter like nobody else that I know."

The doctors who will help her offered a more sober outlook.

3. Giffords goes outside for physical therapy

Tucson, Arizona (CNN) -- U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on Thursday continued her dramatic recovery from a gunshot wound to the brain by going outside for physical therapy, one of her principal doctors in Tucson, Arizona, told CNN.

"Today actually, we were glad to say that we were able to take her outside and she was able to do her physical therapy," Dr. Peter Rhee told John King.

"We gave her some fresh air and also gave her some sunshine," said Rhee, speaking from outside University Medical Center. "She was able to see the Arizona mountains."

Behind Rhee, flowers left by well-wishers filled a portion of the hospital lawn.

5. not to be a downer, but
have their been any pictures/video released? The descriptions sound good, but also pretty vague. Physical therapy encompasses a lot of things, and we don't know what her protocol is or how far along she is on it. I hope she makes a full recovery, but people expecting her to walk out of the hospital in a few weeks and immediately resume her old life may be expecting too much. I hope I'm proven wrong.

10. It will take many months of therapy before she can walk
out of the hospital. She has a lot of hard work ahead of her.
