Bennett rips Demos for 'hatred' of Bush

WASHINGTON -- While warning the members of the Senate "not to get carried away with election year rhetoric," Utah Republican Sen. Bob Bennett charged Tuesday that Democrats' attacks on President Bush are based on "personal hatred" of the president rather than facts.

Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., who accused Bush of creating "the largest credibility gap since Richard Nixon." Several more Republicans later joined in the effort to answer Kennedy's criticisms. Kennedy charged Bush with breaking the "basic bond of trust" between Americans and the White House because administration officials "repeatedly invent facts" on not only the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq but also the price tag for Medicare reforms and commitments to public education reform.

"It would seem in this campaign there are those who have nothing to offer but fear itself," said Bennett, a member of the Senate majority leadership. "Fear and its handmaiden, its standard derivative, pessim- ism." Bennett said while "things are bad" in the Sunni Triangle of Iraq, the deaths of U.S. soldiers and civilian contractors should not overshadow the coming establishment of an Iraqi constitution and new democracy.

Until Florida, I never "hated" or even "strongly disliked" anyone because they were an "R".. I always saw people as individuals.

Further investigation only convinces me that I was naive for most of my life.. Did he advocate that Repugs reach out to the Duly Elected President instead of spraying venom? I couldn't find anything that says he instigated any Personal Hatred of Bill Clinton. My impression is, he prefers to play "good cop" and stay above it all, while going along with the rest of the repigs and letting people like Trent Lott do his talking for him. Is it a lie that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the intelligence used to support the war was shaky? Is it also a lie that the administration concealed the true costs of the Medicare prescription drug bill from congress and that it pushed the date of insolvency up by 9 years? I would like some examples that supports the Bush administration’s credibility. I think he also needs to also take a look at the map and watch the news. The insurgency is outside the Sunni Triangle and involves the Shia population. I saw part of an interview with Karen Hughes and some Repuke congresswoman on Hannity and Colmes and they are all towing the same BS line. In typical fashion Hitler Hannity could not answer a single charge and had to resort to Chappaquiddick and pulling out an old JFK speech and saying how Kennedy was the one actually responsible of Vietnam. They have really circled the wagons around Shrub and are going to follow him into the abyss.
