LITCHFIELD, Conn. — Prosecutors say actor Rip Torn has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from allegations he broke into a Connecticut bank while drunk and armed.

The star of movies including "Men in Black" and "The Beastmaster" was arrested in January after police found him inside the Litchfield Bancorp with a loaded revolver.

State's attorney David Shepack says the Emmy Award-winning actor pleaded guilty Tuesday to reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and the illegal carrying of a firearm.

..The 79-year-old actor was given a 2 1/2-year suspended sentence and three years of probation. Conditions include a ban on firearm possession and random drug and alcohol tests.

1. I thought he had died a year or two ago. I guess it was another Rip.
Or I misread R.I.P.

2. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that!
I swear I read an article that he had died and it was about a year or so ago. Geez! When I saw the headline I thought "I thought he was dead!" ;-)

3. Then it's true. We both read it. Rip Taylor is still alive, too. I wonder if there's another
Rip that died.

8. I thought he had died ...
... mostly because I'm amazed to hear he's still alive. I figured he just HAD to be dead. Of course, I think the same thing about Joe Walsh and Keith Richards.

7. Rip Torn classic quotes
Patches O’Houlihan: If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!

Patches O’Houlihan: If you can dodge traffic, you can dodge a ball!

Patches O’Houlihan: Take care of your balls and they’ll take care of you.

Patches O’Houlihan: Remember, dodgeball is a sport of violence, exclusion and degradation. So, when you’re picking players in gym class, remember to pick the bigger, stronger players for your team. That way you can gang up on the weaker ones, like Winston here.

Patches O’Houlihan: Just remember the five D’s of dodgeball: Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodge.

13. The movie "Dodgeball". A classic, I highly recommend!
Peter La Fleur: Yeah, uh, Patches... are you sure that this is completely necessary?

Patches O'Houlihan: Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine?

Peter La Fleur: Probably not.

Patches O'Houlihan: No, but I do it anyway because it's sterile and I like the taste.

Peter La Fleur: ...Okay.
