US hails war-crime verdict
US hails war-crime verdict
From correspondents in Washington
01aug03

THE United States today hailed the life sentence handed down to a Bosnian Serb war-crimes convict by an international tribunal and said it should send a message that chiefs suspects Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic must be prosecuted.

"The United States welcomes this important judgment issued today in The Hague by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY)," the State Department said.

"This judgment sends a strong message that war crimes will not be tolerated and that perpetrators will be brought to justice," spokesman Richard Boucher said.

"It is our hope that the victims of this horrific period in history can find solace in the fact that justice is being rendered for these atrocities," he said. (snip/...)

But WE are not subject to the International Criminal Court? War crimes will not be tolerated? I guess that's unless they are committed by the U.S.
