Far Right Hold Largest Moscow Rally In Years
Source: Reuters

MOSCOW (Reuters) - At least 5,000 Russian nationalists rallied for curbs on immigration in Moscow on Thursday in one of the largest far-right demonstrations in years in the capital.

Activists shouted "Russia for the Russians," and carried banners calling for "White Power" and "Orthodox Faith or Death" in a march held with official permission in a suburb in the south of the capital to mark the Day of People's Unity holiday.

Around 50 percent of Russians voiced sympathy for the slogan "Russia for the Russians" in a poll by state-run Levada Centre last year and rights activists warn that the far-right has the potential to become a major force in Russian politics.

The number of racist murders in Moscow had actually fallen in recent years in the wake of a police crackdown after the slogans of far-right groups became more critical of the Russian government, Kozhevnikova said. A significant minority of the protesters at Thursday's march chanted anti-Kremlin slogans.

the English Defense League actually coordinates with US tea-party organizers:

The English Defence League, a far-right grouping aimed at combating the "Islamification" of British cities, has developed strong links with the American Tea Party movement.

An Observer investigation has established that the EDL has made contact with anti-jihad groups within the Tea Party organisation and has invited a senior US rabbi and Tea Party activist to London this month. Rabbi Nachum Shifren, a regular speaker at Tea Party conventions, will speak about Sharia law and also discuss funding issues.

the EDL is a neo-nazi spinoff of the National Front, BTW

Protestors made Nazi salutes
during an anti-immigrant rally

Two nationalist groups made their presence known during demonstrations in Moscow. To mark National Unity Day, the far right railed against immigrants, while pro-Kremlin youth group Nashi called for an end to crime.

Thousands of Russian nationalists rallied against immigration Thursday in Moscow, in one of the capital's largest far-right demonstrations in years. Far-right organizers, including members of the Slavic Force movement, boasted at least 5,000 for an anti-immigrant rally in a suburb in the city's south.

Right-wing extremists shouted "Russia for the Russians," and carried banners calling for "White Power" and "Orthodox Faith or Death."

The demonstration was focused against immigrants,
but anti-Semitic chants were also heard

The demonstrators in Moscow got support from Preston Wiginton, an American advocate of white supremacy, who has earlier been refused entrance into the United Kingdom. He fulminated against what he called "the cult of multiculturalism."

5. An utter insult to the heroic generation of war veterans who saved the world from fascism.
20,000,000 Soviet people, most of them Russian, died in the war against fascism. Russian soldiers liberated concentration camps and delivered justice to the anti-Semitic thugs collaborating with the Nazis in eastern Europe, and Russians - national traitors - spit on their graves. Where are Putin's "patriotic youth" in response to this?
