Gov't Warns of Summer Bomb Plots in U.S.

By CURT ANDERSON, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Terrorists might try to bomb buses and rail lines in major U.S. cities this summer, according to a government bulletin issued to law enforcement officials nationwide.

The FBI (news - web sites) and Homeland Security Department sent a bulletin Thursday night saying terrorists could attempt to conceal explosives in luggage and carry-on bags, such as duffel bags and backpacks.

The bulletin cites uncorroborated intelligence as indicating that such bombs could be made of ammonium nitrate fertilizer and diesel fuel, similar to what was used to blow up the Oklahoma City federal building in April 1995.

Let's just hope they don't happen here at all.

18. Oh, I wouldn't put too many eggs in that basket if I were you...
...If the NeoCons get real deperate and need martial law to "postpone the elections indefinitely", they'll do it in an heartbeat. Any group that would allow something as horrific as 911 to happen just to further their own agenda is more than willing to suspend elections.

25. The general election of 1860 was held prior to the beginning of the...
...Civil War, and the elections of 1864 were held when the war was a foregone conclusion.

Based on the fact that Lincoln jailed (detained) quite a few people without just cause that he believed to be a threat to the Union, I believe he would have declared martial law if it had been necessary.

36. Belief, shmelief. Coulda, woulda shoulda.
The fact still remains. Elections have NEVER been postponed or canceled in our nation's history.

Not during the war of 1812 when the Capitol itself was burned and occupied.

Not during the Civil War, when there was fighting only a few miles from the Capitol.

Not during WWI or WWII.

NEVER.

Are you suggesting that it would be somehow acceptable now?

I don't care if we are nuked. This bunch got installed into OUR White House DESPITE LOSING TO AL GORE - AL GORE GOT MORE VOTES!

This bunch thinks it's "inconvenient" at best to include members of the democratic party in congress in any emergency "shadow government". Never, ever, before has THAT even been contemplated. ONLY REPUKES PLAN THIS WAY.

Maybe if bunkerboy actually WON the selection 2000, and actually obeyed the existing laws of the USA, and him and the other repukes actually CONSIDERED the Democratic Party's point of view on various matters instead of laughing them off with utmost disdain, maybe then, I could trust this bunch in an emergency.

But because this bunch governs in fact and in theory like a dictorship/royal government of entitlement, I will never accept their legitimacy, let alone such an emergency scenerio. Never.

4. More likely to influence the election
Put all these threats out now, and when they don't happen, Bush and Company can claim that their efforts prevented the attacks.

Oops, one got through. It must have been Clinton's fault.

6. Here we go again? What do you mean?

Not every time the government issues an alert means that they are wagging the dog.

I believe that terrorists are planning to attack us.

Why is that so hard for some people to believe that here?

I read posts all day saying that the Iraq war is making more terrorists(which I believe is obvious) and than I turn around and people say the government is hyping the threat from terrorists. Can't have it both ways people.

9. Why do they put out RED ALERTS!!! so often?
And this one is based on uncorroberated intelligence....meaning it's garbage.

What are we supposed to do with this alert, other than thank Ashcroft when nothing happens?

This information should go to railroads and whoever else it is appropriate to inform. Why tell the public this crap?

Oh yeah, they want to keep us scared all of the time. Maybe I'll finally break down and buy that gun and security system and vote Repuke cause they're working hard on keeping me safe!

bleh.

12. Future terror attacks are a real threat
However, the Bush team has lost creditability with the American people. The terror threats maybe real but since Bush is running on the "scare the shit out of America so they'll vote for me" platform you can see why some would be skeptical.

24. Why, you ask? Maybe because they have lied EVERY OTHER TIME?!
Maybe, because, JUST COINCIDENTALLY, every fucking time bunkerboy's poll numbers take a dive, there just happens to be some new threat?

Bunkerboy and his gang of thugs and criminals have absolutely NO CREDIBILITY.

Guess you believed them about their WMD, trashing the White House, and Selection, also, huh?

35. With THIS criminally negligent, lying misadministration - it IS.
"Not every time the government issues an alert means that they are wagging the dog."

Everything this gang of thugs currently occupying OUR White House is "wag the dog".

EVERYTHING they have said, whether it be policy, forcasts, or speeches, has been prooven wrong and a lie so far. EVERYTHING.

One can only evaluate persons based on their record - what they do - NOT what they say. Based on their record, they are "wagging the dog", or worse.

8. What I find disturbing about this news-
This article was posted in GD too, and I asked the following there,
but the thread is sinking like a stone, so I will ask again here.

The Cabal is currently facing major criticism about
being warned of attacks prior to 911 and doing nothing.

How do they counter that at this point?

Why they warn of new attacks, to prove they are "on it"
so that when it happens, they can prove that they
DID know this time and they DID tell us what they knew
so that we were warned.

Also, if there were new attacks before the election, that they
KNEW about, and "Hey, they DID warn us..."
And since we know all about what is going on as far
as terrorists go, we have to stay in the White House
because this is NOT the time to hand National Security
over to new people who don't know as much as we do...

Think about it.
Tell me your thoughts on the possibility that the timing
of this report as strategy in a bigger long term agenda.

BHN

11. Yes, I think all of these alerts are political.
CYA. If there was something I could do as a public citizen when I read that, I'd like to know what. This is turning into the boy who cried wolf. A story:

Recently I was on a long flight that had a layover in LA. We were all told to deboard because they were going to clean the cabin. When we had to line up to reboard and show our I.D's again an older woman was ahead of me. She had a coat that she said someone left in a chair and she thought it belonged to someone in her senior group. The flight attendants who were scrutinizing over everyone's ID didn't even look at the coat and just said "take it on board and ask there." Now, I thought that was pretty crazy since I had to take my tennis shoes off 3 times on this flight and here is a (granted elderly) woman admitting she found a jacket and isn't sure, but it might belong to someone on board...and they didn't even bother to check it's pockets.

Security is a joke and everyone knows it.

30. I do have concerns that this involves a long term agenda,...
,...along with the propaganda about the bombing in Spain where "they" were asserting that aQ had the power to sway elections.

I also have serious concerns that we will see another large attack within our own borders and that it will infect the elections in a way that could be catastrophic to the future of our country.

10. yeah... right... whatever...
And terrorists might be focusing on other parts of the world this summer, too, and have no plans to do anything on American soil until the next election is decided.

Bush has already made it know that he has dicatorial sympathies and leanings---if he is losing in the polls as the election approaches, he will order another attack on the US, do away with the election and set himself up as dictator, do away with the constitution and put all of us who make less than $500 million a year into bondage and slavery.

I guess the fact that he's gutting the "first response" budget---to pay firefighters and rescuers who get to the scene of disasters first--means that he really doesn't care if you're injured or killed or your property is burning to the ground---his retaining his presidency is far more important than your little, worthless life.

16. Explosives up the wazoo...
In any given place, on any given day, at any given moment, somebody with criminal intentions, political objectives, or psychological derangements can do something very, very nasty. It is a simple, brutal fact.

Scaring us about backpacks and duffel bags is pointless when someone can stick plastic explosives up his butt and detonate himself while taking a crap in the lavatory of a plane or train.

Ask yourself this: Governments go to extraordinary lengths to thwart narco-trafficking, but the materials for making explosives seem awfully easy to get (including stealing them by the ton, according to Spanish reports following the Madrid bombing). There seems to be very little oversight, and very little consequence when materials go missing.

Why the government indifference?

a couple of weeks ago. He said" The terrorist will attack us before the election so we better make plans to cancel the election right now.
If they think they can stage a fake terrorist attack so Bush can declare himself dictator they better think again. If these fucking cowardly chicken-hawks want a civil war that is the best way to get one. Get ready. If Bushco's numbers drop below forty they're going to try it. They're not going to stop destroying our country, looting our treasury unless we're willing to beat them bloody. LITERALLY
