Civil unions strongly opposed by lawmakers

Civil unions and domestic partnerships are overwhelmingly opposed in the state House, a survey by The Tennessean shows.

Of 98 members surveyed, only eight said they ''should be allowed,'' while 69 registered ''no'' votes.

In the survey, the most emphatic responses from House members came in regard to whether civil unions and domestic partnerships should be allowed.
