Scott Brown Finds Himself On Tea Party's 2012 Hit List
Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON -- Tea Party activists didn't have to wait for the results of the 2010 elections to start conspiring about their targets for the next cycle. Sen. Orinn Hatch (R-UT) has long been considered a primary target, alongside Bob Corker (TN), Richard Lugar (IN) and Olympia Snowe (ME). All of the aforementioned are Republicans with a penchant for working in bipartisan fashion, some more than others.

One surprising name popping up on the 2012 target list, however, is an individual that the Tea Party turned into a cult hero of their movement. Scott Brown (R-Mass) has spent the past ten months in office building the framework for his reelection. He's worked with Democrats on a variety of economic initiatives while siding with the Republican caucus on other measures. He has been, as conventional wisdom goes, about as conservative as one can be in Democratic-leaning Massachusetts. But, for some, not conservative enough.

On Wednesday morning Red State's Erick Erickson put Brown on his list of "Potential Tea Party Targets for 2012."

2. I hope the Democrats put up an excellent candidate to counter their offence
I live in Ma, they are going after Snow too. They have to be exposed for what they are.

4. Rep. Lynch is an early prediction to throw his hat into the race
My rep is not my cup of tea but he will certainly go right at Brown. I'm hoping Capuano makes another run.

11. I'd prefer Cap but I could get behind pretty much anyone (with the exception
of Martha Coakley) in this race.

What's the betting Steve Pagliuca tries again? Anyone? Or Alan Khazei?

5. Limpy may not run again
but if she does, she will win. Her support among Democrats is almost as solid as her support among Republicans. The Tea Party can try to primary her, but they better have more sense than they had previously, when they ran an ad comparing her to French President Chirac. It was supposed to be an insult, but that probably helped her win a lot of votes among Franco-Americans.

Why is Corker a target? He seems crazy enough for them.

6. He was a useful idiot
but I have a feeling that establishment Republicons are ready for this in MA. The tea partiers have been most effective at getting their candidates on the ballot in small states that are easily manipulated in lightly voted primary elections. They'll have to demonstrate some prowess in the larger Southern states before they're ready to have even a fighting chance in a normally blue state.

To me, that was the silver lining from last night, for the most part, the bluest states stayed blue. Those would be the states that voted for Dukakis, and pretty much haven't gone for a Repuke for President since 1984.

9. Even if Brown wins, expect him to be "Blanche Lincolnized".
Abandoned by the foot soldiers and teabagger money, he'll get steamrolled by a strong challenger.

7. He will not be reelected in any case.
That, and the Maine seat, should be banked early through recruitment, or in the case of Maine, a party switch.

8. Excellent.
Considering that teabaggers got fucking SLAUGHTERED here in Massachusetts, a teabagger challenger to whatever Dem we put up will be a quick and dirty way to get Ted Kennedy's seat back.

14. The list of names is the list of all Republicans up for office
He is not included in the shorter list of who to go after.

I suspect they will NOT primary him because someone to the right has zero chance. The important thing is the democrats need to beat him.
