Obama and Boehner discuss priorities in phone call
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama called John Boehner, the likely next Speaker of the House of Representatives, to discuss priorities and common ground between Democrats and Republicans after Tuesday's election.

Obama called Boehner and Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, as well as Nancy Pelosi, the current Democratic Speaker of the House, the White House said in a statement on Wednesday.

An aide to Boehner said the two men discussed economic issues. "They had a brief but pleasant conversation," the aide said. "They discussed working together to focus on the top priorities of the American people, which Boehner has identified as creating jobs and cutting spending."

The White House said Obama told the Republican congressional leaders he looked forward to working with them. "In his calls with Rep. Boehner and Sen. McConnell, the president said he was 'looking forward to working with him and the Republicans to find common ground, move the country forward and get things done for the American people,'" the White House statement said.

4. It's such a damn shame.
The country loses a great human being like Russ Feingold and now gets loathsome trash like Boner and Paul.

5. Boner has said his #1 priority is making Obama a one-term President
I'll take him at his word. We'll have little action from Republicans on any issues facing Americans. We will have a lot of witchhunts.

6. I believe that was McConnell (unless they both said it), but that doesn't mean Boner isn't a snake.

8. Can we just get along?
Do ya think we can find some sort of middle ground on which we can all stand? Are we all so different that we can't have the same desire for a lifestyle that is somewhat do-able that is obtainable and is not a burden on anyone else? Seriously, am I asking too much?

No more questions, it's cross roads time. Where are we going? How do we get there together? (ok, those were questions..)

15. To Republicans, "Middle Ground" = "Agreeing 100% with Trickle Down".
You have to understand something about corporate-funded victimizers . . . They. Don't. . . . BARGAIN.

9. Obama's looking forward to working with the congressional Republicans,
and they're looking forward to making Obama look even more weak and ineffectual.

That about sums up his presidency.

12. "Reid: We need to work with GOP" ... video over at MSNBC.
Yeah, Harry, like the GOP worked with "us." I didn't watch the video. I have little doubt the Ds will not take the exactly wrong lesson from this bloodbath.

14. Teabaggers aren't going to like this
They want no compromise and think their very presence in the House will be enough to get their way. They're immature little children who are about to learn a tough lesson.
