BAGHDAD — At least seven bombs went off across Iraq's capital on Tuesday, many in coffee shops full of civilians. Officials said the death toll was at least 35, but that number could keep climbing as rescuers reach the scenes.

The blasts took place in at least seven neighborhoods Tuesday evening and wounded dozens more.

Officials said about 80 people were injured by the bombings that mostly targeted Shiite neighborhoods.

Earlier Tuesday, an Iraqi police commander was detained for questioning in connection with the deadly attack on a Catholic church in the capital.
