1. Sounds like that
A little off topic, but Henning is where Alex Haley spent much of his childhood.

9. Idiots. Why would you rob a post office when it's just opened up for
the day. I wouldn't think they would get very much so early.

11. Does the Social Security Administration ship on 10/18?
Back in rural Virginia in the mid-90's, there was a string of mailbox robberies on the day when social security checks went out. (Lots of retired & disabled miners on SSI).

8. "Two people were killed ...in Henning, Tennessee."
My first thought was, oh no, not Jackie and Dunlap. But I looked again and it said two workers. Jackie and Dunlap don't work.

Just saying.

Source: AP

By ADRIAN SAINZ

HENNING, Tenn. (AP) - Two gunmen opened fire Monday at a post office in a rural West Tennessee town that was home to "Roots" author Alex Haley, killing two workers during an attempted robbery.

The shooting happened Monday morning at the one-story, brick building in Henning, the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said. District Attorney Mike Dunavant said Monday afternoon that authorities were looking for a vehicle but would not elaborate except to say the case involved "disturbing violence."

No arrests were made, and postal officials pleaded with the public to come forward with information about the crime.

The victims were identified by authorities as Judy Spray, 58, a rural carrier associate, and Paula Robinson, 33, a retail clerk.
