Dems try to split from party for midterms
Source: The Hill

... “It is telling that this ad receives it highest ratings from Republicans,” said Chris Wilson, a GOP pollster with Wilson Research Strategies. “The ad is designed to remind Republicans who may personally like Herseth Sandlin that she is more like them than like Democratic leaders when it comes to the issues.”

Even though the ad scored relatively low with Democratic insiders in the poll, Wilson said vulnerable Democrats running in centrist to conservative districts would do well to continue to emulate Herseth Sandlin’s approach.

“Whether or not it works in the end, this ad could become the blueprint for incumbents defending tough seats against the political tide. It leverages her personal likability and connection with voters while highlighting key issues where she has demonstrated her independence,” Wilson concludes...

Democrats who focus upon Republican voters, is this the path now? I find it hard to believe that anyone respects a democrat trying to be a republican.

2. This is the DLC Model. They go after the upper end of - economic Scale
directly competing with GOP for same group. This is why
they never put D or Democrat in their ads. This works
ok when the party is not in power. They lie low and
stay out of the limelight in DC hoping most people
will ignore how ofent they cast Republican Votes.

Republicans do not compromise, so part of their consituents
demand and get their votes with the Republican Party.

The light has shown brightly this year and people are
catching on. This is why they are in trouble.
They had to vote some of the Democratic Big Issues
and their Republican voters are made as H.

3. "Seem Republican"--Now, there's a winning strategy for a Dem!
:sarcasm:
“'It is telling that this ad receives it highest ratings from Republicans,' said Chris Wilson, a GOP pollster with Wilson Research Strategies."

Telling--and dumb as a box of rocks. Republicans will not vote for her, no matter how much they may like the ad. And the people who might vote for her don't like the ad. So, the ad will either be a net zero, or lose her Dem votes. Brilliant use of $.

4. This should tip the scales in the 'voter enthusiasm' battle.
I'm sure disillusioned Democrats will be heartened that their Democratic congressman will be even more conservative in the future.

5. My dumbass representative is pulling this trick...
By and large, he's a rich prick representing the other rich pricks in the region, and he's blurring the boundaries -- on purpose -- just enough so you don't really know what he stands for.

I keep telling myself that his rebubbalickin opponent is even worse, but I can't for the life of me generate any warm fuzzy feelings about this election.

6. Harry S Truman said it best: "Given the choice between a Republican and . . .
someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time."
