Castle will not back O'Donnell
Source: The Hill

A Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) campaign source confirmed to The Hill late Tuesday that the longtime congressman will not be endorsing Christine O'Donnell.

The Tea Party-backed O'Donnell defeated Castle for Delaware's Republican Senate nomination.

After the stunning primary loss, Castle's campaign also said the longtime congressman is not interested in waging a write in bid this November.

<...>

As to whether the national party would back O'Donnell, a Castle campaign source said the campaign has no knowledge of their thinking but said "they should save their money."

1. From the comments at The Hill k*r
"Why would Castle endorse O'Donnell after she ran a campaign by innuendo about his orientation. You don't basically call someone a limp-wristed homosexual and then expect him to endorse you. She ran a nasty, personal campaign and will not be trounced into the obscurity her type deserves." BY Seth Chandler on 09/15/2010 at 00:56

Well then. O'Donnell is a nasty piece of work and now she gets to find out what it's like to be that nasty.

Good grief. Delaware looked gone and now it lives!

21. And like Sarah Palin, after making personal, mean-spirited attacks on her opponent...
she then has the gall to bitch about how she faced character assasination and the politics of personal destruction.

8. As someone who has met Mike Castle several times - he did not deserve this
I would never vote for him because I only vote democrat but it was a relief to know that if I was stuck with a republican representation it wasn't some mouth-breathing asshole right-wing screed. Although I am beside myself with Glee that Chris Coons will probably win, I feel bad that Castle had to go out like this. He's a good person, one of the nicest people you could meet and I have met him several time. I still appreciate the photo I have of him along with Tom Carper and Ted Kaufmann I have hanging on my wall.

19. Castle was one of the few decent Repubs out there and the teaparty attacked him.
Repubs get what they deserve. And we will most likey have Delaware stay Dem.

23. My friends in Wilmington say the same thing
As is usual in Delaware, their kids went to elementary school with his kids, so they knew him from class-trip type stuff. They are hard-core Dems, but DID vote for Castle.

They sure as hell won't vote for O'Donnell, who make SP look sharp.

6. For those experienced hands..politics ain't a bake sale.
It is sometimes about retribution. When you get your man pants on then you make sure that the people that screw you pay.

That is the way hardball politics is played.

11. Sarah Palin comes through again
Without those directed robocalls persuading the 'true believers' to vote for the only 'constitutional conservative' in the race, the GOP would have had a sure winner come November. Now they can kiss a Senate majority good-bye. Mitch is beside himself. Nice work Sarah!

13. My brother in law...
the only conservative I can have a conversation with, is positively disgusted by O'Donnell's win. He posted that "it is a victory of insane ideology over common sense." Okay, so I don't agree with him, but when you make smart Republicans queasy (and he is just that), something is wrong.

26. Oh my goodness, the Tea Party just saved our asses!
The Tea Party kicked Delaware's and New York's Senate seats back into our laps, puts Alaska in play for the first time maybe ever, makes tough fights for us in Pennsylvania and Nevada easier, and might even hand us a House seat in Illinois, where the Tea Party accidentally backed a Democrat. They're turning a mid-term disaster in the making into a friggin' mandate for the Democrats!

We should send each one of 'em a bottle of un-fluoridated water for Christmas.
