Sen. Miller: Sept. 11 investigation energizes terrorists
Sen. Miller: Sept. 11 investigation energizes terrorists

The Associated Press - WASHINGTON

U.S. Sen. Zell Miller is questioning the usefulness of a panel investigating the terrorist attacks of 2001, arguing its public quarrels with the Bush administration could "energize our enemies and demoralize our troops."
(snip)

"The vindictive Clarke has now had his revenge, but what kind of hell has he, his CBS publisher, and his ax-to-grind advocates unleashed?" Miller said in a Senate floor speech Tuesday evening.

Miller, who has backed Bush on practically every major foreign and domestic initiative, said if there were intelligence breakdowns, Clarke was most to blame because he was in the "catbird seat" for a decade.

"It's obvious to me that this country is rapidly dividing itself into two camps _ the wimps and the warriors," Miller said. "The ones who want to argue and assess and appease, and the ones who want to carry this fight to our enemies and kill them before they kill us. And in case you haven't figured it out, I proudly belong to the latter."
(snip/...)

http://miller.senate.gov/usmc.htm

He was a Marine for 3 years from 1953 to 1956. He apparently wants the next generation of young Americans to become killers.. He is a very sick and disoriented man.

He would characterize us as Wimps. His friend Senator Saxby Chambliss is a Wimp and a DRAFT DODGER.

42. Wanna volunteer to kick his ass, saigon68?
He called us wimps. I'd volunteer for this mission, but I think he needs to get his ass kicked by a Combat Vet, not just a Regular Vet, to make the point.

"Wimps" indeed. Zell might have been a Marine once, but now he licks the boots of the Imperials and might as well be Molotov to Bush's Stalin.

NOTE to OHS Thugs: I'm joking, stupids!

Trying out them new kneepads (with the presidential seal on them)? Hmmmmm?

If there were ever a "Trojan Democrat," he's it. He's always been it. But at least he's retiring at the end of his term -- which gives him carte blanche to let his true colors show through without fear of facing the electorate (and he knows it).

Let's face it -- he's as much of a prize to the Republicans now as it would be if John McCain suddenly started voting against everything BushBaby* does, publicly endorsed Kerry, and appeared at "Republicans for Kerry" rallies. (Except I've no doubt that McCain would do it with a lot more class.)

People like Z3 give ignorant rednecks like me a bad name. :-(

* Z3 = ZZZ = Zig-Zag Zell -- as he's known in Georgia...

,...because "provocation" creates/instigates violence rather than inventing ways to suppress/address violence.

"They" just don't GET that!!!

Why?

Oh,...uh,...never mind,...it's a control freak thingy which precludes the possibility of actually solving problems.

6. I would think
Clarke would know far, far better than Miller what the consequences of the 9/11 commission, and his criticism of the * admin, would have regarding international terrorism.

Maybe it's Clarke's experience over four administrations, or deep involvement with counterterrorism efforts across multiple agencies, bur I think Clarke is well aware of the lack of effect all this will have on those terrorists.

Zell is a lot like a postal automation supervisor of ten years telling an automation clerk how to run the machines. The supervisor's never done it, so he lacks credibility.

If he did, I haven't heard about it. I think I haven't heard about it because he hasn't said it. If you have info otherwise, I'd appreciate a link.

I wasn't a big fan of Kerry before the primaries, and am not very happy that we have someone who voted for the war resolution, but I believe he was calling for Condi to testify publicly.

rather what we are divided over that matters. Only a gutless political trollop grandstanding for PR would seek unity without addressing the underlying reasons for the division.

Remember the Vietnam Conflict divided the country and that was, IMHO, neccessary to bring about an end to it.

the same crap miller is spewing on this is what others spewed when they demanded an anti flag burning amendment.

they think that democracy is too fragile for the truth and freedom of expression, so they dampen it and call it security.

imagine an al quaeda follwer who sees that the americans are seeking the truth, in public. does it resonate in that man that the americans are a weak, feckless lot, or does it show the transparancy and resiliance of the american political structure, which is the opposite picture of what al quaeda propaganda depicts.

45. If Gore had been president on 9/11 (supposing the attacks had happened)
would Zell Miller and the other Republicans in Congress be talking this way? I think not.

And, he really is a moran. Take a look at this comment again:

"The ones who want to argue and assess and appease, and the ones who want to carry this fight to our enemies and kill them before they kill us. And in case you haven't figured it out, I proudly belong to the latter."

Not unless he switched sides very recently (like five minutes ago). It was Richard Clarke and the Clinton administration that bombed Afghanistan and killed a bunch of al Quaida. It was Richard Clarke who was jumping up and down trying to get the * winkies to pay attention and DO SOMETHING when the 9/11 attack was imminent.

It was the Republicans and their buddies like Zell who yelled at Clinton for taking action against al Quaida (wag the dog). It was the * wimp-astration that ignored all calls to do something about the impending 9/11 attack and decided to take the summer off for vacation instead.

Who's the hawk, Zell?

What an asshole.

52. Wrong Zell. Not investigating helps the terrorists.
It leaves you vulnerable and makes you look stupid. You don't fix anything by ignoring it, hoping it will all just go away. Most people learn that at a very young age. A shotgun approach won't work either Zell. You can't kill everybody. The irresponsible use of violence will only create more bitter enemies and make it all much worse for a much longer time.

These are pretty basic concepts, Zell. The fact that you do not understand them disqualifies you from public service. Things like 9-11 happen because of fools like you.

Take the fight to the enemies??? Okay, old man... YOU FIRST!

Glad he hitched his political wagon to the Chimp's star - they'll both go down together...

62. Time for that mountain boy to climb back up the hill -
kick off his shoes, and squish his toes through the pig shit instead of spewing it for all to hear.

66. Zell Miller: the Stateside Warrior...
Zell plasters his three year Marine corps stint 1953-56, all over his website and campaign literature. (He enlisted in the Corps in lieu of prosecution for drunk driving and hit-and-run in 1953)

His service to his country: defending the PX at camp LeJune... a military record only George W. Bush could envy.

Yet his shtick is clearly geared to portray Kerry--the real warrior--as a "wimp".

Focus groups suggest the Kerry campaign's should respond to Zell Miller's name calling as follows:

"I know you are...but what am I?"

69. Have to wonder what is in it for him?
One thing to be a Dino. Another to take pre-emptive potshot after potshot at those who don't agree with the boyking. Doesn't he seem to jump in the fray a great deal with increasingly harsh words? Why? He retires shortly, so its not for political reasons.

71. Only if that was to parlay into a bigger paying industry job
related to whatever department he might cabinet. Perhaps instead a cushy Carlyle or Haliburton job where he can enrich himself at the taxpayers expense?
