U.S. Weapons Hunt Shifts Focus to 'Intent' in Iraq
You can't make up stuff like this.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. search for weapons of mass
destruction in Iraq (news - web sites) will continue despite the failure so
far to find them but the mission will also investigate whether Saddam
Hussein (news - web sites) intended to develop such weapons, the chief
U.S. arms hunter said on Tuesday.

4. Think of the possibilities if law enforcement took this approach
We could lock up people BEFORE they had a chance to commit crimes - uh, I guess Johnnie Asscraft has already thought of that, hasn't he? Dang!

11. They sort of already do that as far as the Drug War is concerned
For example, if you are found with a whole bunch of cash on you at the wrong place and time, you will probably get it confiscated, due to your presumed 'intent' to use it for something illegal.

13. And over a certain amount or drugs is good enough to get nailed for
"intent to distribute." Maybe I just wanted to have a large supply of weed for my own use? "Sorry, chump, you are busted."

Your potential employer can do urine tests and credit checks on you because if you have bad credit, you intend to steal from the company, and if you have drugs in your urine, you intend to get stoned on the job...

7. How is this NOT a completely political effort?
Searching for actual alleged weapons is one thing. Obviously, if there were barrels of mustard gas, chunks of Uranium etc... lying about, somebody better find it and clean it up. (Actually, there WERE toxic radioactive items stored at Al Tuwaitha, and the US failed to do anything about it after they invaded, and now they are gone, distributed around the countryside giving Iraqi children cancer.)

But searching for 'intent' of a regime that is now gone? What possible motivation/justification can there be for this other than trying to give Bush a slim wafer of excuse for invading Iraq for the upcoming US election? Do the soldiers involved in this 'search for intent' realize that their lives are being risked solely for Bush's election effort?

It's unbelievable that the Bush campaign tries to paint Kerry as a "waffler" or "flip flopper." Kerry may have changed his mind on some things over the past 30 years (rightfully so), but the Bush team is "waffling" on huge issues almost daily.

The new direction of trying to determine whether the former Iraqi president was actively pursuing the development of banned arms reflects the Bush administration's evolving public rationale for the war on Iraq.

23. this kind of sleezy stealth is beneath the United STates
This country has turned into a loose canon--armed and dangerous.
These sleezeballs that had to steal an election got right on it immediately and are STILL using PR techiniques to revise history. NEVER let it be forgotten how they LIED about WMD in order to invade Iraq. It was NOT because SAddam was a bad man, it was NOT because the Iraqi people were not free and wanted us to free them, it was NOT because Saddam could have been a threat, it was becaseu Saddam HAD WMD , and was aiming them at the US.

NEVER Let these bastards skim over this and change history. NEVER because they should be tried for their war crimes and evidence is that they LIED in order to kill ten thousand innocent people. and to send our troops into harms way for their lies and their greed and their abject criminal purposes.

They are the scum of the earth--all of them. Bush, Laura, Cheney, Lynn, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, Perle, Libby, Bolton and all of them that are scheming right now for the lies that will sound plausible when they invade Iran, or Syria or any other country they set their sight on. Has to be a small defenseless one though.

I cannot believe what has happened to this country in three short years.

We have a government that apparently cannot tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and does not see the need to anyhow, is a ruthless destroyer of others out of sheer adolescent need for revenge on anyone they think goes against them, does not think honor is a necessary ingredient in a person, ignores the needs of the people the serve, and even tries to make it worse for the people, travels around the country using tax payer money to raise and obsecene amount of money so they can lie some more to the people intheir ads--the whole of them are despicable bastards --and failed to protect the citizens by ignoring all warnings leading up the attack on the WTC.

We have been the victims of Bush's war on his own people.

that could eventually reach the US in 45 minutes.

If he would have put it like that in his State of the Union, nobody would have voted for his f*ing war.

WTF???

Well, I've entertained the thought of supporting our Mars mission by having Bush sent to Mars. Will I be attacked next?

32. Me thinks there will be docs that suddenly appear…
Say in late October and the mediawhores will be given just enough crumbs to manufacture the desired sound bite….whereupon further scrutiny, say sometime in Nov., reveals that these docs pretty much reinforce existing docs that indicate Saddam’s wishful intentions back in `93 with no further support of intentions beyond that time period….if the ballot box is unsuccessful, I would expect to hear the “I” word a great deal soon afterwards…
