White House: No second stimulus being considered
Source: Reuters

The White House stressed on Thursday that no second economic stimulus package is being considered as part of new measures under review by President Barack Obama's team.

Obama said on Monday he and his advisers are discussing further tax cuts for businesses to help create jobs, as well as an extension of tax cuts for the middle class, rebuilding U.S. infrastructure and increasing investments in clean energy and research and development.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that the business tax cuts could be potentially worth hundreds of billions of dollars.

"There have been a lot of reports and rumors on different options being considered -- many of which are incorrect," said White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage. "The options under consideration build on measures the president has previously proposed, and we are not considering a second stimulus package. The president and his team are discussing several options, as they have been for months, and no final decisions have been made," she said.

4. Billions of dollars in corporate tax cuts aren't going to help the deficit
unless you buy into Reaganomics.

7. Ridiculous
The stimulus is responsible for saving and creating jobs. The problem is they haven't spent enough. We need MORE spending to get out this.

10. So the first stimulus was tax cuts for the middle class and businesses,
infrastructure spending, and investment in clean energy, but doing more of that isn't a 2nd stimulus. This sounds like just a framing thing to me. The stimulus package has a bad connotation for some so this time they aren't going to call it that. The devil is in the details of course but this doesn't sound so bad.

13. So the White House isn't calling it a stimulus...
...but actually, they are considering the same thing with a different name.

"Obama said on Monday he and his advisers are discussing further tax cuts for businesses to help create jobs, as well as an extension of tax cuts for the middle class, rebuilding U.S. infrastructure and increasing investments in clean energy and research and development."

The first stimulus was tax cuts and assorted spending. What is under considering is more tax cuts and more assorted spending. Despite this headline, this story tells me that there is going to be a proposal for a second stimulus - and there should be.

18. We can't get a second stimulus.
Democrats are running scared because it's an election season and they're not listening to the White House. Republicans are just assholes who are not interested in governing.

Instead of shitting on Obama's head, why don't you all consider what he's up against for once.

20. Always helps the GOP to see a white flag of surrender from White House!!
But -- that pretty much means that the public and its well-being mean little

to this administration!!
