President expected in Tucson
President expected in Tucson
Tentative date for Bush visit is Aug. 11

07/31/2003

By C.J. Karamargin

Pima County Republicans are preparing for a visit to Tucson by President Bush next month. (snip)

(snip) Party officials have been "in touch with the White House" arranging the trip, which is tentatively set for Aug. 11, Munger said. (snip)

(snip) The president's August visit would come as Democratic challengers who hope to deny Bush a second term lavish attention on Arizona in anticipation of the state's Feb. 3 presidential primary.

Both parties consider the state, with it surging ranks of Hispanic voters, a key swing state in next year's election. (snip/...)

2. Hey! This is a Democratic town!
We have three Democrats for every two Republicans (and four right-wing hate radio stations to zero for the left).

We gave Governor Napolitano her margin of victory last year. We helped tip the state for Bill Clinton in '96. We packed in triple the expected crowd for Howard Dean a couple of weeks ago.

And we had William Rehnquist scampering to his limo like a scared little child when he dared to show his face here. We can pack a First Amendment Zone as well as anyone.

Shrub may never see us, and his handlers will never brief him on our show of loathing, but we'll put the fear of Gawd into them. And we'll damn sure make certain that the local lapdog press can't ignore us.

I still have my "Bush Lies" sign from the inauguration protest ready for events like these. I say, bring him on!

4. Does Pima Co. have a Democratic Sheriff
Maybe Tuscon can be the next destination for Texas legislature Democrats when a third special session is called.

Napolitano and Goddard will protect them, but you need a cooperative sheriff too. So Maricopa is out. Joe Arpaio would probably send them to the tent city.

5. Sheriff Dupnik is a Democrat
Maybe he can check Shrub's entourage to arrest the aide who outed Joseph Wilson's wife as a CIA agent!

We do have a Republican mayor but that's gonna change in a few months.

Arpaio - maybe you can trade him to Texas for two legislators to be named later....

3. Is Dipshit going to speak at Old Tucson? Or maybe in Tombstone??
I mean since he seems to think he's in the Old West, it would be fitting for him to give his bullshit speech in a place that looks the part :eyes:
