Source: Wyclef Jean to announce he'll run for president of Haiti
Source: CNN International

(CNN) -- Wyclef Jean will announce exclusively on CNN's "Larry King Live" Thursday night that he intends to run for president of Haiti, a source close to the Haitian-American recording artist said Tuesday.

Jean has been an outspoken proponent of Haiti through his Yele Foundation and was one of the first celebrities to offer aid after the devastating earthquake there in January. He told CNN late last month that he has filled out the necessary paperwork to make a run at the country's highest office.

Jean, who was born in Haiti, shot to fame in the mid-1990s as a member of The Fugees, a U.S.-based hip-hop and reggae group. He performs now as a solo artist.

I'm sorry if this bit of celebrity news isn't LBN. I think running for head of state would be LBN worthy so I'm posting here. Also I find this interesting because I'm a fan. :)

3. I think he would do a good job
The country needs a leader that isn't entrenched in the political system there, it doesn't work like it should.

6. I'd rather see someone else run for Haiti
Edited on Tue Aug-03-10 08:06 PM by Hawkeye-X
Wyclef Jean was recently caught stealing from his own charity supporting Haiti for his own 'personal use'.

A Google search can confirm it.

10. Thanks
That does make sense about the accounting. When I originally researched the story it indicated that the foundation was open for awhile but didn't file a tax sheet until 2009 and then proceeded to do forms for the prior years.

8. I didn't know that
When I said I was a fan I meant of his music. I don't know much about his personal life or personal opinions.

Really? You'd trust that kinda site? I'd see that as just as reliable as WorldNetDaily or Newsmax.

Here's a real news article report (found by Googling a quote in Brokencountry)

11. Can't think of anyone better
That country desperately needs somebody to keep a light shining on the poverty and weeding out all of the corruption. Hope he makes it.

14. I'd rather have someone be President of Hati than knows something about running a country
I like Wyclef but what does he know about running a country?

Haiti is going to need a lot of help and experience to overcome it historical problems not to mention the effects of the recent earthquake. I don't think being a musical artist or producer really prepares one for running a country.

15. Did the previous admin know about running a country?
Fat lot of good it did. I imagine Wyclef will find knowledgeable people to help him.

16. Elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday, buried on Sunday?
I'm not at all sure of his administrative/executive capabilities, but his heart is in the right place and if he can do some good for Haiti it would be awesome. I just hope "If I was President" is not prophesy.

20. Can you say PUPPET
Wyclef is a Sony artist which is connected to Disney. There is a BIG Conflict of interest here Google Disney and Haiti sweat shops.

Can you say PUPPET

He has no experience what so ever, if he really wants to help just keep the attention on Haiti, and help with donations.

Lavalas & Aristide Attacking Wyclef Jean For Supporting The Rebels In 2004

if he really loved Haiti and not his ego he would want Aristide back like most of the people there. Aristide's main mission was wanting farmers to get back to their land and be self sufficient. And that would not benefit the investors with the factories.
In fact Wyclef supported the ousting of Aristide.

Lets not forget he does not speak the official language french and not too much Creole, not educated, not a citizen. His audacity is above and beyond.
